- 1500 g fresh quartered tomatoes (you can remove the seeds if you like), onion, capsicum & garlic
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 teaspoons dried herbs, (you could use fresh, & increase the amount)
- 1 teaspoon sugar, (optional)

For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. -

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:

Cooked 4 batches of this sauce today with my glut of home grown tomatoes. Cooked down an extra 10 minutes for a richer sauce and turned out beautifully. Thanks for an easy passata recipe for the thermo 😊

This sauce is 5 stars! Even my fussy children...
This sauce is 5 stars! Even my fussy children loved it. I cooked it for 10mins longer to reduce a bit more and was able to use up lots of our tomatoes from our harvest. Served 6 and I have a 600ml jar left over for lunch tomorrow.
Made this sauce today as I had a stack of home...
Made this sauce today as I had a stack of home grown tomatoes (black russians) to use up. I cooked it about 10 more minutes longer than method said to thicken it up. The sauce is delicious. I now have two bags of 300 mls each in the freezer and a happy hubby cause I have used up the tomatoes.
