Hi,

My thermomix came up with this error (C160) twice tonight and then shut down!  It's never happened before, although I have had problems with it going through the original start-up messages (the ones you have to "next" to 500 times!) several times.  I've had my thermomix for almost a year now and love it apart from this.  Any ideas on what I should do now?  It is working at the moment.


Hi everyone, I got hold of the service centre and they told me it was a calibration issue (the C160 error followed by a C145).   About an hour after my error messages the machine worked for blending my soup, and I managed to make a white sauce.  The service centre said this error could occur again.  Thankfully I only live 15 mins away from the WA service centre, and I dropped the machine off and they assured me it will be tested and fixed asap.  I am happy with their response to my problem.  Smile

unfortunately for a refund your issue (in this country) is with the supplier i.e. demonstrator. you would have to sue the demonstrator not the company as they are the ones who supplied the machine.also i believe that for a recurring problem the warranty stays until completely fixed. only a court of law can decide what a "timely period" is when it comes to repairs.

I am also receiving the c160 error whenever I use my thermomix for longer than 20 minutes. And more recently it has been happening more frequently. I have contacted thermomix Australia via the contact us page on your website and was told someone would contact me, however, no one has. This is very frustrating to have such an amazing piece of equipment in my house and not be able to use it! could you please get someone to contact me ASAP

Aaarggh!! I'm getting this error message also!! Very frustrating!! Trying to cook tomorrow nights dinner and I keep getting the C160 error message whilst cooking Minestrone! Can anyone advise what I can do? TIA!

I was the original poster of this thread back when I first received my machine back 09/10/2014, I was receiving error code C160 back then whenever I tried to cook in the varoma for any longer that 45 minutes. Well I finally got the courage to try cooking silverside tonight and the same thing is happening, error code C160 and C144 and then the machine shuts down. Has this problem been fixed now as I really dont want to be sending my machine back to be fixed everytime I try cooking in the varoma? It's very dissapointing that this is happening with such an expensive piece of equipmnt Aw

I am currently getting the C160 and C144 error constantly whilst cooking, even when cooking receipes from the chip.

It has been happening frequently over the last month and only received my TMX 5 last Oct/Nov

Just started having a C160 fault screen pop up.  Happened while using Veroma, last night then again 4 time tonight.  Looks like a common issue judging by the the unhappy comments on Google.  Not happy, given the cost of the machine.  Given the machine was delivered to me I would expect someone will come and pick  it up and fix then return it.

I am receiving error message C 160. Have now received the same message 4 times while cooking tea? Frustrated...can anyone tell me why please and what to do next?


I am having same problem cooking silverside, machine keeps stopping with error c160. Extremely frustrating.

Experimenting with cooking Silverside in the varoma for the first time tonight & have had repeated C144 & C160 errors Aw  very frustrating trying to finish cooking tea.

never had had any problems before - please advise.

Half way through cooking a pork belly using varoma and got error code C160 and shut down. Tried to get it to work a few more times but flicked between C144 and C160. Will not work. Tried to even do a different function. No success. Thankfully my guests cancelled so only cooking a smaller portion for my family.

I have a new lid as the old lid wouldn't sit properly . Today I used TM to make soup with the new lid and it keeps coming up error C160 and shuts the TM down. When I use the old lid this doesn't happen! What is going on?

 


Sounds like Thermomix need to address this common problem-an explanation of what the code indicates and the underlying cause would be a first step. 


Yet again error after error. The lid is still not closing correctly and I have had two repairs. I am now asking for a refund as per Australian consumer regulations. This machine is NOT fit for purpose. REFUND PLEASE! :((

I do NOT want to speak to the service team so please do not flag with them. I am requesting a refund or I will go through the ACCC to request it along with various public forums, watch dog and consumer rights programs....REFUND PLEASE!

Hi there, I have not used my machine much. Today I was making mashed potato for the first time and got C160 and C144 (lid) errors. It is super annoying as the whole machine shuts off after the C160 error. I'm a bit worried now I've read how common this set of errors is with the TM5. If it's a known fault, i shall be very unimpressed. Fingers crossed for quick and complete resolution.

Hi Everyone... just thought I would join the club tonight  ! I've had mine working fine since November cooking most things on a daily basis ... tonight the dish was Beef Stroganoff ... thermie won't run now for more then a few minutes before the message returns,   disappointed to see the C 160 message looks like a broken message,  will drill them for the cause tomorrow as right now from what I read,  its not looking good,  while on the subject anyone got cracked TM5 lids I just had one replaced under warranty.

Have just received email advising it will take a week to reply.  I don't understand why it takes a week when I offered to stop into the office in Brisbane to pick up a chip - if that is the problem.  A week to tell my why the machine can't complete an automated recipe / request for refund seems lengthy.  Anyway, maybe Thermomix will surprise me by calling me tomorrow! 


Have received a text from my consultant - who also couldn't get through to the service department today.  

 

Just to clarify - the machine stopped working when it reached 1 minute left to go on the 8 hour recipe.  I waited for 15 mins whilst the one minute to go message was displayed on screen. Still no call or contact from Thermomix.  Still waiting. 


I am absolutely furiou.  Just got my machine back from repairs. Cooked corned beef and no errors.  However tried to make yoghurt on the automated settin.  Counted down the time ok until the last minute of the recipe.  It then took 15 mins to count down and would not finish.  I had to manually stop the machine.  

 

So I called the service department.  Closed for public holiday.  No facility to leave a message.  Called the Brisbane office again.  Told me to call my consultant to see if I need a new chip. Not convenient.  I work shift work and she lives some distance from me.  I then asked if I could drop in to the Brisbane office on the way to work.  Told no.

 

Said they would transfer me to Perth service centre to leave a message. I asked about a refund.  Said only Perth customer service can authorise.

 

Now totally fed up.  Transferred to the SAME MESSAGE.  No call back offered. 

 

So Thermomix Perth customer service please call me as I want a refund on this machine. You have my details.  I am not satisfied with the appliance or customer support.  I have paid over $2000  for a machine that is fault.
