well yes !! looks like I am also one with a problem C160 and c144 whilst cooking a soup... timer had finished and getting ready to blend -- machine keeps shutting off.. can anyone help please ????as it is a saturday afternoon and the "customer support centre" will not open again until  8am Tuesday 2nd June long weekend WST. ARGHHH so frustrating

 C144 & C160 error - whilst cooking Silverside from the basic cookbook these errors appeared.  Called the Service Centre in WA waited 30 minutes (no reply), sent them an email (no reply) email Thermomix Aust, (no reply).  Great service for a machine that costs $2000.

I've been reading all of the comments on this forum, from people with the same problem, only comment from Thermomix Head Office is  "Your comment has been flagged with our Service department. Someone from the Service team will be in touch with you soon". How about just posting on the forum 'What the problem is".

Help!! Making the steak dianne tonight and after adding more ingredients, my machine is playing up. The C144 & C160 error has been coming up for over an hour. Feeling very frustrated, not sure what to try and the meal isn't actually finished so upset about the potential waste of food. I've messaged my consultant from when I purchased the machine last November but have had no reply. Does anyone have any tips? I've cleaned the lid and run under cool water but no luck.


Looks like my machine is joining others ...whilst cooking Rice the message 161c happened. Tried numerous times to reposition, dry the connection etc and restart to no avail. My unit is 5 months old. My friendly consultant has logged a request for repair. Just wanted it noted that my machine has caught this bug whatever it is...

I am totally disappointed with TM5 - too many problems for an expensive lemon! Error144 & Error160 the current bane of my frustrations!

I've just had these errors aswell. I was cooking a whole chicken and the error came up when I stopped the chicken to put in vegies. The lid would not lock and after 3 times trying, the machine wanted to restart. I did this process multiple times to no avail. After dinner (thank goodness it did it after the chicken was cooked) I tried again- did the same temp, speed for 5 mins.. no problem at all.

I wonder is it was my lid, it is very hard to put on most days.

The machine didn't feel hot at all, I was worried it was over heating. Obviously I would like to know what the errors mean. I'm now hesitant to try anything fancy in the machine due to potential food wastage.


This error has just happened for me too. Obviously these machines arnt capable of cooking silverside! My friend had this error come up cooking silverside and it's since been sent back for a third time. Is there a way for me to fix it or do I have to be put out by returning it. Dissapointed.

I have the same problem. Just cooked stew...left it for an hour to cool...intact. now error c144 everytime i try to fire up. reset to factory defaults..same..power off..same HELP

I was just cooking a big dinner of silverside and veggies and half way through we noticed it had stopped yep error C160 said it had to reset so we did and then had C144 a few times looked on here then seen it was common with heat so I ran the lid inder cold water re tried and still even sitting flat got C144 till eventually it worked (we had to turn it off and lift off the bowl and lid a few times for it to get beyond C144). During the meal this happened 4 times and in the end the "steam" turned a cloudy foggy colour and started to smell so I turned it off called my consultant and waited a bit. We again tried to use it and now we can't get passed the C144 Aw ... We had to finish everything in traditional cookware OMG I forgot how man dishes it took hahahaha but I trust my consultant and the warranty and everything will be fine was just a little frustrating tonight. What was the end result with your machines? What happened?
