I am having the same issue with my TM5 that started flicking between 0 and Max last night.
I went through the troubleshooting tips as provided by my consultant but nothing worked.
I've submitted an online enquiry through the Thermomix website, but didn't receive an automated response to my email address, so not sure it was received.
I'm extremely disappointed this has occurred. My TM5 has been out of the box for 2 WEEKS and has sat in the same spot on my bench and not moved. Clearly this appears to be a common fault. Is there anything being done to make the scales less susceptible to malfunction??
I'd also like to recieve a response to my service request asap and may I please be provided a timeframe for service? I've paid a lot of money for this product and can not believe it has already malfunctioned after 2 weeks!

As of today, my scales on my TM5 are not working. I cleaned the feet and rebooted the machine several times. The scales stay on 000 and are not picking up any wieght. I have had my machine for only 5 months and have not had this problem before until today.

Hi I have emailed customer service and called the number that Thermomix advised in the top post (Can you please contact our customer service department on 1800 004 838) but it's diverting to some guys mobile and he said he's been getting calls all weekend).... I have also tried contacting the rep that sold me my machine and haven't heard back. My scales have stopped working. I've had the machine for 7 months. So far not happy with customer support! Can someone please contact me.

Hi im having the same problem the scale was out and when i took the bowl off to make sure everything was clean now its just stuck on 0 and wont work at all..
I'm having the same problem, my scales are stuck on 0 not doing anything at all, did just post this somewhere else but noticed this was more about TM5, I've only had it since November so I'm pretty disappointed. Will this be covered under warranty, such an expensive machine I hope I don't have to fork out a lot to fix it :(
My Thelma (TM5) scales have stopped working & I'm NOT happy. This will be the second "repair" on my machine & it's done hardly any work. First repair, the arms stopped locking while I was using the Varoma cooking potatoes. I packed it up, sent it away, she was gone aprox 3 weeks, now that was bad enough.
BUT after speaking with a customer service lady this afternoon after the scales completely stopped working, she's suggested the service department may not have re connected the wiring to the scales correctly, as they do it all by hand.
Seriously that's really not good enough Thermomix - I now have very little confidence my Thelma will ever be right again!!!
After stretching the budget to buy such an expensive machine I'm really worried I've got a lemon
Mine has also started going from 0-max intermittently, it self resolved the first time but has malfunctioned again. It is disappointing as I to have only just had the tm5 for about 6 months, it doesn't travel and hasn't been moved from its spot in the bench. I called the service centre and they emailed me a trouble shooting guide without really listening to my issue.
I have only owed my Thermomix since christmas this year and was quite shocked when I went to use it today and the scales are malfunctioning. I have never travelled with mine or even moved it from the postion on the bench. I am extremely careful when washing and drying it and am extremely concerned about having to possibly send it away for fixing considering the little use it has had. I also, not aticipating any concerns got rid of the extremly large box that it was delivered in, and therefore am concerned if I do have to send it aay for fixing - how can I guarantee its safe repair. I have not tried any trouble shooting repairs myself other then to check if it is clean and not wet. It appears in perfect order, the blue stickers on the handles even remain intact. The machine was flashing today and could not sit on zero when tared and now will only sit on zero when anything is added - not recognising anything at all!!!! Ahhhhh, did not expect to run into any difficulties so early on and am extremely disappointed. I realise that I can only contact head office tomorrow but would appreciate any ideas of any quick fixes people may wish to share
I had a TM support person contact me who said they need to be sent away. They organised a courier to come pick the TM up and send it back, I should get it back in 10 days or so.
Mine started doing this tonight, not happy Does anyone have a fix? I don't want it to have to get sent away. Has anyone got an explanation as to why it's done it? I've tried a power cycle and factory reset but neither helped. It seems a bit of a common issue reported in a few threads...
ive just logged in because my TM5 has exactly the same problem ! its done it twice now, from the first week of ownership and has fixed itself after a couple of days - worried that because its intermittent it will be hard to fix so good to know im not alone !
Thank you dear, but as you can see, I posted this on the weekend out of desperation when it all froze in the middle of using the thermomix. I gave away my scales when I bought my thermomix trusting that it would work! However, as this is not the first time, I'll be buying another set of scales as I no longer trust the machine!
I have forwarded your contact information to our service centre and they will be able to advise the process of having your machine serviced whilst out of the country and which service centre it may need to go to.

My TM5 scales are jumping from 0 to max with nothing in the bowl. When I try to weigh, nothing registers at all.
Very sad because I took delivery of my thermomix on 1 October 2014!
and now they're constantly changing from -weights to +weights with nothing in the bowl .
I have tried all the trouble shooting suggestions.
