  • Just beautiful. with two

    Submitted by Misskt77 on 13. June 2016 - 14:59.

Just beautiful. with two non-dairy eaters in the house, this was pleasing to us all. next time I will reduce the sugar to 50g as it is sweet. Loved milling the cornflour prior as it's the smoothest custard I've ever had.

  • Just what I needed for my

Just what I needed for my gluten/dairy-free dinner guests - thank you ! I used 2x270ml tins Ayam Coconut Milk (or cream, no real difference) which contains no additives + 2 tins water with 60g maize cornflour & just 100g coconut sugar to double the quantity, with 3 very large eggs. This was very smooth & creamy, and a tad thicker than I wanted to go over stewed rhubarb & apple, so could reduce cornflour further for a thinner, pouring custard.

this is a seriously delicious custard. perfectly smooth and oh so yummy. i was a bit skeptical about it having a caramel taste but it does. i didn't have enough coconut milk so topped up with some regular milk and was still perfect. yum yum yum!!

  • Delicious dairy-free recipe

    Submitted by Jaz72 on 12. June 2015 - 21:40.

Delicious dairy-free recipe for custard. I only added 40 grams of coconut sugar and found it sweet enough. Also used 250g of coconut cream and 250 g coconut milk. The texture was perfect! Only problem I found was trying not to eat the whole lot in one go!!

I only had 400g of light coconut cream in my panrty so i added 1/2 cup of water to take the volume to 500g needed. It was scrumptious!

  • Like with dairy, the coconut

    Submitted by maritbynke on 15. March 2015 - 16:43.

Like with dairy, the coconut cream has a higher fat content and is thicker. I would use less of the coconut cream and top up to the required amount with a bit of extra water.  tmrc_emoticons.)

  • What is the difference

    Submitted by kuarta on 29. January 2015 - 20:13.

What is the difference between coconut milk and coconut cream? Can you use coconut cream as a substitute for coconut milk? If so, would you cook at same specs as coconut milk? Thanks.

I ran out of normal sugar and ended up using my coconut sugar to see what would happen, and I'm so pleased to see this published! You beat me to it! I'm really keen to see how this turns out with coconut milk! Yum!!! Isn't is great when accidents happen??? tmrc_emoticons.)
