Hi am a Thermomix user for last 4 years T31 and now T5. Recently diagnosed with MS and am following the Ovecoming MS diet . Before I go and start trying convert recipes to Thermomix has anyone seen heard or know of specific Thermomix recipes already published

Hi there

I'm so very tempted to buy a TM as I think it will be a real timesaver and lifechanger for me.  I have MS (multiple sclerosis) and some days, chopping foods, lifting pots from cupboards, and just getting the energy to cook is a challenge.

What's holding me back is my kids, 7 & 9, both of whom are mildly autistic and have food/sensory issues. I know some  readers may be of the opinion that they just need to get over it, but my reality is I that have one child who basically eats bland white food but nothing sloppy or mixed (ie spag bog) and another who loves spag bog but won't touch foods with strong smells or mushy, oily textures (fish, some meats - I really have to cook the spag bog to within an inch of its life to get rid of the meaty smell - butter, cheese etc). So one lives on chicken and mashed potato and the other on spag bog with pasta.

As a big appeal of a TM is being able to walk in the door and have a risotto on the table in under 30 minutes doesn't apply to me, do TM users think I will still get good value from such an expensive purchase? My husband and I still have to eat, so we would enjoy the risotto, and I intend to make more basics from scratch - jams, sauces etc.  But do you think that justifies the cost?

Or are their users in the same situation who have found the TM helped them?

I'd love your opinon.

Cheers and thanks

Hi, From what you've said here, I think you'd still get a lot out of the TM. I have a few friends with Autism and I wonder if the sheer noise will get to them. it's quiet on the low speeds but up high it can be like a jet engine taking off. Just my two cents.

Hi there, my life seems so simple and straightforward compared to yours!! I don't mean that to be patronising.

I think  you would get a lot out of a Thermie actually. It is a big investment, definitely not an impulse purchase, so if you haven't already, having a demo in your home would be fabulous.

In terms of what you could be cooking on a daily basis - mashed potato in the internal steamer basket while steaming chicken breast or white fish in the Varoma? Spag bog can be whizzed up once it is cooked. Homemade soups are amazing and nutritious, a basic recipe can be adapted to your family's preferences.

You could make a sauce or a complete dish for you and your husband to warm up later (chicken in mushroom sauce, butter chicken, there are some great recipes on here). Dough for bread or bread rolls is really easy, as is jam ( pour in fruit, same weight of jam sugar and a squeeze of lemon, 12 minutes later, hello)

if my Thermi isn't doing something every day, I find something for it to do!!

Hope that is useful.

Best wishes,

Nic xxxx
