I have made this for the first time today with my TM6. I couldn't find what temp to cook at so I did 100*C.
I am only a beginner with my thermo even though I have had for 2 years.
Is this the correct temp?

Im making my 6th batch as I have been experimenting with how much chilli to get perfection and I have done it. As I made my own chilli powder cant share exact recipe, but I did add 1 tsp mustard powder instead of seeds and 1 tsp smokey paprika. Sauce I didnt keep for sauce I used on pizza bases and pasta sauce base all were far better than store bought. Thank you so much for this recipe

I am not a sauce person but I will admit this is delicious. Hubby has it on everything and when it's all gone he just hands me the empty jar! Just made my 3 rd batch in 3 months.
Definitely no more store bought in this household.

In the last 12 months I have made this recipe about a dozen times. I add between 50-80gms honey depending on if I am making it into paste or sauce. It doesn't matter what changes you make to this recipe, it always tastes lovely and works. It makes about 2 x 400gm jars. Thank you for the recipe.

Made it yesterday following the recipe pretty much exactly, turned out really nice! Impressive taste similar to commecial tomato sauce (ketchup) but without the sugar (just honey . Best thing is you can modify the recipe to your heart's content. Used TM5, second cook was 17:30 mins.
Best tomato sauce, thanks for sharing 😀

Love this recipe. After reading all the comments, I did reduce my honey to 50gms as well. I also used 130gms of capsicum and 180gm of red salad onion. I cooked mine for full amount and have made it into tomato paste to use on my pizzas! So easy, and we have heaps of cherry tomatoes so have been very busy.

Amazing! After blending at the end, I added some extra water and blended for a few seconds just to make the consistency more to my liking. Thank you for an amazing recipe.

I reduce the honey to 50g and the second cook to 10 mins. This gives a better sauce consistency imo. My toddler loves it and it’s obviously better for her than store bought. I have made this recipe well over 20 times and will continue to as it is now a household staple.
Very nice

Wish I'd read the comments
Wish I'd read the comments before making the ketchup. I added 80g honey but was still very sweet. I only got one 500ml jar plus about 1 Tablespoon. it was very thick but taste was good and will make it again with about 50g honey and cook for less time to make it a bit more sauce like.Ovreally a good recipe. Thanks.

Really nice flavour but too
Really nice flavour but too sweet for us, will try dropping the honey down to half. I might try cooking on varoma for less time at the end to get it slightly thinner and more pourable! I won't be buying sauce again anymore though after trying this!

Made this one this morning as per the recipe - thicker than shop-bought ketchup but super tasty and great to know it isn't half a bottle of sugar!! Thanks
Is there any way of making
Is there any way of making this a preserve that will last up to a year? Or can I assume that it will? Also do you refridgerate once open or is that not required. I used to make traditional tomato sauce on the stove and that didn't need refridgerating...this seems easier as long as it will preserve. thanks
love this sauce I am making
love this sauce I am making my sixth batch, tweaking last batch with chilli ginger corriander and basil hope it turns out well.Thank you for beautiful sauce. Have stained my lid and machine any answers on how to get tomato stains out.

Nice flavoursome sauce! I
Nice flavoursome sauce! I made this last night and added 2 chillies along with the capsicum which has added a nice level of heat to it as well (not too much). I didn't add the seeds, so if you do maybe leave it at one unless you really want a "chilli" tomato sauce. It made 2 medium sized bottles along with a little extra I just put in a container. I just used the bit from the container to add to my lasagne and I will probably use this sauce in the future for that. For me I only cooked for 15 mins at the end because of the comments about the thickness. This made a perfect thickness for tomato sauce to put on sandwiches etc. If you want a jar of sauce to use more as a tomato paste try it for the 20 mins maybe (although I would recommend checking at 15 first to see what you think. This will definitely go into my staples for the cupboard/fridge!

The best Tomato Sauce recipe
The best Tomato Sauce recipe I've tried! Flavour is brilliant! I didn't have any mustard seeds so replaced with a good teaspoon of Dijon Mustard! Love it!
Like a previous person
Like a previous person mentioned, I made this with rice malt syrup instead of honey and it still turned out great! Used the tomatos I had grown (for the first time) in my new veggie patch too! Definitely making this again, thank you!

Thanks for sharing this
Thanks for sharing this recipe. We love spicy food so I added a big pinch of chilli flakes, more cayenne and more peppercorns and it has real punch. I also added home grown thyme and oregano. Goodbye Fountain Tomato Sauce!!!!
When it says 10 mustard
When it says 10 mustard seeds, is that 10gms or 10 single mustard seeds? Thanks
I made this on a whim this
I made this on a whim this morning, and being nearly an hour from the nearest shops did some substitution. It worked a treat, and I am really happy with the result. I subbed the fresh tomatoes with 2 tins of crushed tomatoes, used 1/3 teas of hot English mustard instead of seeds and used a combination of white and malt vinegar. A pich of chilli flakes instead of cayenne and the result is a fabulous tasting sauce with a tiny little bit of bite. Shall be making again for sure, thanks!,
Can this be stored in pantry
Can this be stored in pantry if using sterilised Ball Mason jars?
We have made this so many
We have made this so many times I've lost count! Hubby made a different recipe once, as he didn't know which one I made, and it paled in comparison.. (Even he admitted that "mine" was way better! Hehe) I have shared this recipe with so many friends as everyone loves it. Our daughter absolutely inhales it! We use it as a condiment, in bolognaise, on pasta, on pizza.. LOVE IT!! Thank you!
I made this too last night
I made this too last night (it inspired me to do pizzas!) Anyway I substituted the honey for 100gms of sugar and added Italian herbs. Turned out to be a thick tomato paste (which is what I was after anyway). Next time I will add a pinch or two of chili flakes
Makes about 500mls, and will probably be long eaten before the recommended 3 month use by date!
