Ingredients

250 g

brown sugar

  • 250 grams Raw or White Sugar
  • 15 grams molasses
5

Recipe's preparation

    BROWN SUGAR
  1. 1. Add sugar into thermomix bowl.
    2. If using raw sugar process for 3 seconds/speed 10. If using white sugar you may skip this step.
    3. Add molasses into bowl and combine 1 minute/speed 4. Scrape down sides of bowl and around from under the blades.
4.Combine again for 1 minute/speed 4. Pour into bowl and stir through with spatula to break up any lumps.
    5. All done!

Sugar can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of weeks with no problem. If it clumps back together place back into thermomix bowl and recombine.

Yields approximately 250g (and only costs around $0.50 per cup to make! Much cheaper than buying readymade brown sugar!)

Works well! I always keep a small piece of bread in my brown sugar to stop it going hard. It works a treat, the bread goes hard but never mouldy & just change it every few months 😜

I no longer buy brown sugar as this is so quick and easy. It is my ‘go to’ brown sugar recipe and I make a double batch of it with white sugar, each time I run out.

Great, yet another product I don't have to buy at exorbitant prices. I buy Australian raw brown sugar on special & make all my own sugar products from that. This recipe is great. I've made in larger batches & kept it a lot longer than suggested & had no problem.

Worked fantastically! I doubled the molasses and it's like store bought brown sugar - the taste, the smell and the consistency. I'm so happy I can just quickly make some now when I run out. Thank you for sharing!

Wonderful - turns out perfectly in TM5 - could definitely add more molasses next time for darker sugar.

  • What I especially love about

    Submitted by maerrie on 1. July 2014 - 13:20.

What I especially love about this is you can adjust your brown sugar to suit your taste exactly! I like it a bit darker, but not quite as much as the commercial dark brown sugar. This is one of those ingredients I only need sporadically, so making it in small quantities is just perfect. Yet another reason to love my TMX (not that I needed any more)!
