Recipe's preparation

  1. put sugar in then add treacle to TX Bowl.

Mix speed 6 reverse till fully combined about 20 sec

It is difficult to do small batches as the treacle goes through the sugar and sticks to bowl without mixing.

Store in tight container if not using now.

  • Have used this for a specific

    Submitted by Clare on 17. April 2012 - 20:26.

Have used this for a specific recipe and kept the remainder successfully and have also included sugar and molasses (without premixing) in recipes successfully.  Love not having to buy brown sugar!  Thanks for sharing.  Think this should be the recipe of the day since I am aware of others with TMs who don't know how to make their own brown sugar and would benefit from this recipe.

  • Just a quarter or half.

    Submitted by moreta on 4. March 2011 - 14:51.

Just a quarter or half. Depends on the size of the container but I do not make it in advance much. Just leftovers from what I make for other uses. Sometimes just use sugar and trecal in the recipe and do not bother mixing it. Can only do this if it is going to be mixed in. To make for  something like cinnamon rolls need to do it right. Enjoy

  • I couldn't wait to try this,

    Submitted by jodarcy on 4. March 2011 - 14:37.

I couldn't wait to try this, but still had a fair bit of purchased brown sugar in the pantry. The same night I wrote my last comment, my neighbour borrowed all my b.sugar! Bring on the next recipe that needs it!!! When you say add an apple in, do you mean just a quarter of an apple? Or a whole one? Thanks!

  • The same as ordinary brown

The same as ordinary brown sugar. It will go hard over time but if you keep some apple with it it will last for months.
