Theda the Thermie is ordered & on her way & I can't wait!! I am wondering if anyone can suggest some easy, tasty recipes to try initially. Particularly anything impressive to convince my partner hehe tmrc_emoticons.lol Also are there any must have items (other utensils, cleaning tools etc. not necessarily TM brand) I should get or things I should do to prepare for her arrival?

I have just ordered mine too and i hear you get a cook book with it, so im planning on just doing the recipes from start to finish one per day lol. tmrc_emoticons.smile when my sister first got her thermomix she made four different things in the first 6 hours though so i might be able to get through it more quickly than i thought. I understand your excitement. I cant wait to make butter and yoghurt.

My Thermie was delivered on Saturday and I have already made 4-5 things. and I havent been home much. I can't wait till I can spend a weekend in the kitchen. tmrc_emoticons.cooking_4

The arrival of my new 'baby' has literally transformed my kitchen (& life) & has made me think more about what I am putting into my body. I have pretty much got all my foods into glass jars (& not in plastics). I have even started my own herb garden. Considering I hated cooking & didn't spend much time in the garden makes all of this even more amazing.

Actually I pretty much hated cooking because whatever I cooked was pretty ordinary to yuck. I haven't cooked a cake in years & one of my first recipes cooked was the Caribean carrot cake - it was to die for. The response I got from the family was fabulous.

I am actually enjoying spending time in the kitchen.   OMG did 'I' just say that? Lol. tmrc_emoticons.wink

My thermomix is due to be delivered on Wednesday - can't wait! Everytime I cook I am converting the recipe so looking forward to actually testing to see if it's going to be as easy as that. With some time on my hands I thought I would check out some of the websites and of course the recipes.  tmrc_emoticons.bigsmile

Ours arrived tonight after a week of not-patient waiting! Made Pumkin soup with demo then delicious valila custard after she left.  Now planning tomorrows cooking and going to try a pumkin cashew and parmesan dip (pintrest recipe...) I received my thermomix on Monday and as a shift worker had my first opportunity to use it last night. Chicken noodle soup in 14 minutes and it was so amazing. I had lost interest in cooking and this has so revved me up I am going to have a major cooking day. Cannot wait to keep cooking.

I would say a silicone spatula is a must, the thermomix one isn't great for scraping out the bowl.

The first thing I made with my consultant was the veggie stock which is great because I use it in so many dishes! Other easy dishes to start with are: risotto, sorbet (orange is divine!), stews (I like beef and guinness) and sauces to go on steaks or chicken (eg mushroom, bernaise). I didn't have much luck with the bolognese.

I've made quite a few batches of homemade tomato sauce / ketchup which the kids love tmrc_emoticons.smile

Have fun everyone

My Thermo is due to arrive sometime next week; absolutely can not wait; not even sleeping properly at night; I'm such a kid!

As someone else said here, I know this will change my life and that I will be cooking all the time now as oppose to before when I was only cooking because I had too.

Yes, I think it's pretty standard to cook the TM vegetable stock concentrate with your consultant when your thermo first arrives.

I have also been reading a lot of the recipes on this site and some of them sound quite straight forward for a beginner like i will be, especially in the "starter" category. Also when doing recipe searches, I was pleased to find some of my favourite baked goodies like Honeyjoys and chocolate truffle balls , so they are something I think I'm going to do pretty soon after I get thermo.

And, I hear that the Everyday cook book that comes with Thermo starts off with easy recipes so you can practice each function like chopping first, then it progresses gradually; i like that idea. will be following the progression there I think too.

Did I mention I can't wait til my thermo arrives?! tmrc_emoticons.smile

Getting my thermo tomorrow and going to make veggie stock as I don't have the book yet can anyone tell me whats the best veggies and spices to use to make your stock?

I couldn't be more excited!!! thermie in da house!!!! Delivered this evening and stock made. Any suggestions on a first meal... Chicken dish or a pasta dish? Can't wait to cook up a storm!!! Weekend is coming I know what I'll be doing lol.

Someone on the Facebook site mentioned that the first thing they made was playdough.  That's an AWESOME idea which I will steal as it will keep the kids busy, giving me more uninterrupted cooking time!  tmrc_emoticons.wink
