ARGHHH was just cooking a silverside in the Varoma and the C160 error has come up Aw by the looks of all of the posts this happens quite a lot.  I am very disappointed especially because you pay an absolute fortune for the machine and it seems to be a common problem!  I AM VERY UPSET!!!!


Thank you. Service called me today. Machine is all fixed and being overnight couriered to me. Looking forward to having it for the weekend. Due for a big cook up I think!!

I too had my machine for around 6 weeks when the C160 error happened. My consultant (who is wonderful) arrange for service to call me and it was picked up on the 14th January.  2 weeks ago today and still haven't called me to arrange delivery back to me. Not happy about the time this will have taken for a supposed 'quick fix' problem. I am in Brisbane and know it went to Melbourne but come on.....more technicians are obviously required to fix this issue that was known about before delivery. All stock should have been checked initially!

Ive had my TM5 for 2 months and have just had the error c160 come up for the first time. Was making the pumpkin soup from the chip and once it was time to turn the dial gradually from 5 to 9 to puree the error kept coming up and shuttting the machine down each time i tried to turn the dial past about 7.5. Each time i turned it back on and went back to that step it did the same thing. Was fine until that dial was turned to around 7.5. Do i need to contact my consultant if its working fine now for other recipes?

I'm going to cry... I so badly want a thermomix ... Really would like a proofen and tested one like the TM 31

as I borrowed it from a friend ...  :((

now I'm a tad hesitant ... 


Never had any problems before but have just had the C160 message come up repeatedly whilst trying to puree tomato sauce that has just finished cooking for half an hour. 

 

What at exactly is the error message indicating?


I have had my TM5 for just over a month and on Friday I was steaming a chicken in the varoma - after 1 hour of cooking the chicken I have had the C160 message come up. I am so disappointed as I checked with me thermomix consultant I purchased the machine off and she told me that this is a fault in the machine that must be sent away to be fixed. She has put through a service order to thermomix for me. Needless to say I'm very disappointed considering the cost of the machine and how long I waited to get it. I hope that this is rectified quickly and is the end of my issues with the machine!  Aw


in the middle of cooking a chicken in the varoma and have checked the water, have tried to restart but I keep getting the 160 error code and THERMOMIX will shutdown ok . Noooo , HELP  :((

I had exact same problem, cooking Silverside for the first time. Stopped middway to check water level. Then the  code kept coming up lid not on properly. Then finally it would close, then less than 30 seconds later the machine wanted confirmation to shut down. After 3 attempts going through the above process, I cooked it the conventional way in a pot! What a let down.

Got a new TM5 like 3 weeks old and it has an error a major let dow ln for something that cost over $2000.


I too am having the error message C160 appear.  but it seems to be random.  At times it is very annoying.  It does seem to be related to heat frequently.  I have sent a message to Thermomix.

I had the same trouble after cooking silverside on varoma temp..Needed to check water level then had several attempts on getting the lid back on and once I did I kept getting error C160..Couldn't finish as I kept getting this message..Very frustrating..My machine is 5 weeks old

Also had the error on handover demo.  It happened a few times over the last month, now it does it every time and we cant use the machine anymore. I am very disappointed that it has happened in the first place. Finally after saving so long to be able to buy one and now feel as though I've been ripped of. You would expect for this kind of money the quality of Mercedes-Benz or Miele and the attached service. How do I get this fixed ??

What does this error mean? I got it tonight after only having my machine for a few weeks (after paying for it and having the money taken out of my account and then waiting 7 weeks for it to be delivered). I was cooking a whole chicken in the varoma and took the varoma off after 45 mins to add eggs into the simmer basket to boil to go with my chicken Caesar salad. I was unable to continue cooking my chicken for the last 12 minutes as every time I put the varoma back on top it would give this error and stop. I would love to be told I have done something wrong rather than being told it is a fault with the machine - especially after spending the $2000 and waiting so long for it to arrive. I really don't want to have the machine sent off for repair.


I too got an error 160 code was cooking the chicken voule meal off the chip and could not thicken soup at end cause of the 160 code left for 5 mins to cool down and then it worked !!

 


I had an error on handover and it had to go back.But it was 143 (unless I have misremembered and it was 134?) Anyway I've already had my whinge in this thread

I also have the error.  Picked mine up on Saturday and it was doing the error in the handover demo.  Not happy !!!  Although it has been organised with Thermomix to be sent back and fixed, I am very disappointed that it has happened in the first place. Finally after two years have taken the plunge to buy one and now feel as though I've been ripped off Aw

I got mine yesterday and it is happening to me also, just a little cranky. To think that you spend $2000, wait 5 weeks get super excited when it arrives and then sheer disappointment. I am guessing I need to ring cusomer service???

Yes is did, unfortunately it had to be sent back to Thermomix to have the tension screws on the arms tightened. I live in Perth and was only without my machine for 3 hours, the service centre was fantastic! My machine is working like a dream now.


Did you get an answer about this as mine has started doing it too (only had it a few hours) so not impressed at the moment!

I have had my TM5 for just over a week and several times now I have had Error "C160 Device Switching Off" come up while cooking for long periods (over 45 min)... Also the arms try and shut and open back up with a different error code. Any idea what C160 is? The not so helpful manual doesn't mention it.

They have a huge LCD to display error messages so no idea why they still use error codes.
