Hello, 

 

I'm halfway through cooking soup and an error c160 keeps coming up and shutting my machine down. 

 

I can't find my thermomix booklet so I'm not sure what it means. 

 

Anyone know what I can do?

Hi my Thermomix is saying error c160, it has been doing this for last few months on and off. It's incredibly frustrating as it's only 13 months old.

Error Code C160 and C161 - what's the go with this.

My Thermi is not even 12 months old yet.

Could someone please contact me with instructions on how to rectify this problem.

Not Happy at all considering the cost of this machine.

I am also getting error c160 I am in the middle of trying to mix my bread dough NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!


Hi I too am getting this message. Tried to call customer service however closed for the weekend. Has anyone received a reply in relation the the c561 error? If so it would be great if the could share or someone from thermomix add a reply other than we'll be in touch as it doesn't appear an uncommon problem and it's quite frustrating. Thank you.

Hi, I am getting the C160 error code too. It shuts down and also get a c144 error and will not release the lid. It happened when i was making the tomato sauce programmed recipe and i think has something to do with overheating.

on top of that when blending, ive had the screen come up with, unable to use scales... i think because the unit shakes so much it seems to trigger the weights sensor. 

 

Can someone from Thermomix please contact me if i have to send this unit away for repair?

Like majority of the comments, here I am also very upset! I paid $2000 for this machine not even 12 months ago, tonight I got 85% through cooking a meal and my Thermomix come up with the error C161 then shut down now it wont do anything! Now turned it off and back on, now its coming up with C145 lid wont shut properly.

Is there anything I can do to finish my meal?

What is the process with getting this repaired asap.

I share your concerns. When mine was booked in to be repaired (last week)  I asked if this was a common issue given the number of comments on the forums and also if fixed machines broke with the same issue.

I was told the number of affected machines is low (I find this hard to believe and wonder what percentage of failures are occurring within one year of purchase). Far more than for the TM31 I am sure. I was told also that the issue once fixed is resolved and will not occur again, I would like to believe this, given that it seems to occur over time when a machine is used hot I wonder if there has been enough robust testing to honestly commit to the issue being resolved.

 

Some statement regarding warrantee length for machines fixed (if the same problem reoccurs in a year or so) would be good. From the level of comments I see on the forums this seems to be a design fault.

 

Despite this however, I am very glad I bought it and have just had 3 new chips delivered so can't wait to get my TM5 back in a couple of weeks to try them out

Thanks for sharing all the problem that you all had.  I am a new member in this Forum and planning to get one TM5 tonight as my consultant will come to do the demo at my place.  Have any of the problem like c160 ,161, 143,144, 145 and 513 etc  been solved yet? Can the Thermomix in Australia explain why the machine having the problem?   I am very worry it now and having second thought to get one.  It seems the techical support doesn't respond correctively.  I will be very frastruted if the machine not working when I need it.

Hope I can hear some positive feedback from the people who really got help by the Thermomix in Australia.

Thankyou for the prompt service and return of my Thermomix... Had problems with it stopping when heating for too long,, and also my chip wasn't working.  Was picked up and returned within 2 weeks,,, and a new chip was sent to me as well..  THANKYOU. Smile

ive had my thermo for 9 months.  Not used it much but getting more into it now. Pretty annoyed that I got some error 160 tonight and can't get it to work again without it showing 160 and shutting down.  not happy.  I was just steaming fish and veggies for dinner.   I haven't even finished paying it off.  Very unhappy.  


Hello. Frustratingly my thermomix started showing error codes 513 and 561 over the weekend. Have approached my locall consultant and perhaps being the weekend that is why I've not yet heard back. What should I do? 


My recipe chip has suddenly stopped working on my TM5. Error messages C513 and C561. can someone advise where to from here? My original Thermomix consultant is no longer! Thank you.

I am now getting these as well. I now almost need to hold the lid down when I turn the dial and once hot it will often come on with the shutdown error (not sure if C160 or C161). Very disappointing for all of us with new machines. 

I tried to call today but had to hang up after waiting too long (was at work).

I would like to know if any fixed machines have again developed this problem and if so what will Thermo mix do to ensure this is not an ongoing issue once out of warranty?

My TM5 has been doing the same Aw It's only 12 months old and has all of a sudden started displaying error code C160 - it only seems to happen when I'm cooking (i.e using heat). Perhaps the heat is making the lid lift or expand? That's just my theory, the lid doesn't LOOK different. However even after taking the steps suggested by the error code, the machine will immediately display the code again as we begin to cook again/resume recipe. It then displays error code C144 and shuts down. This is obviously very frustrating and I've actually given up using the Thermomix for anything involving heat altogether. Please help!

This my first post here .

i have loved my thermomix which I have had about 9 months and am now so frustrated I want to throw it in the bin .

it has recently started getting code 160 ,161, 144, 145 . I tried ringing head office in WA but was on hold for so long I hung up .

The arms won't lock and if they  do it's because I've been holding and moving the lid around for 10 minutes ,when I eventually get it to start it shuts down .

my consultant is away and was going to wait for her to get back but I can't stand it anymore . it is useless trying to use it as it just keeps shutting down .

how can there be so many problems with all these new machines ?

ps has anyone tried setting it back to factory settings ?


I was wondering if anyone can help. My TM5 is not recognising recipe chip. Error cde C513 keeps coming up asking me to clean contacts. I have contacted my Rep 2 days ago but no solution

I have had my thermomix for nearly 12 months,, love it, no problems until a week ago... It is also coming up with error C160 when I have heated something and then try to blend,,, I do not use the turbo as instructed when it is hot,, just normal blending speed,, but it has shut down the last three attempts.. It is also not picking up recipe chip,,, it's telling me to clean contacts?????? My consultant is no longer working with Thermomix,, so where do I go from here????

I've just had the error message C160 come up too while cooking mashed potatoes. Very annoying. Have left a message on the service line for them to ring me back as I was on hold for ages.

Hello, 

Tonight when I was cooking in the varoma, I got a C160 error. This happened 3 times and the thermomix swtiched off. How do I fix this and make sure it doesn't happen again

Hi everyone, a quick update.  We were also having problems with cooking corned beef in the Varoma, with flickering scales, going into post-cooking cool down mode when no cooking occurred, and with the automated yoghurt recipe.  We have recently received a new replacement machine, as I did not accept further servicing of a brand new machine.  This was a measure of goodwill from Thermomix, and it's appreciated because we want to keep cooking with the machine.  So far so good.  The service centre had done a lot of tests on our existing machine but could not diagnose or fix the faults.

If you are having several problems, it's definitely worth escalating via your consultant.  Try to have some evidence of the problem (eg take pics with your phone - although that's not entirely practical if you need to video every meal that you cook!).  If you're not happy with the result, please ask to speak with a senior customer service rep or the customer service manager.  If all else fails, write a letter outllining the issues and with the resolution you are seeking.  

I did some research with my State's consumer protection agency, and they have good practical tips if you find yourself in the unfortunate position of having ongoing issues and are not satisfied with the outcome.  

Thankfully my new Thermomix seems to be working really well, and I am happy to re-engage with my consultant and learn more recipes!

I have purchased a TM5 and I love my machine, but tonight while attempted to cook the mash potatoes I came up with an error that I can't seem to find additional information on. I got a C143 error stating that the arms couldn't be locked into place as the lid was not on properly. (It was definitely on correctly and sealed well. The machine was also cool. Hadn't even started) I called my consultant who attempted to give me some ideas on what I could do to fix it to no avail. In the end I finally got it to work, but if I could get some further information, that would be great. 

I also noticed that from time to time the left arm "clicks" when it locks into place. I'm not sure if this is normal or not...

I feel so guilty ringing my consultant out of regular business hours, but any information would be greatly appreciated.

We also had the same problem. We have just finished cooking meatloaf with red sauce following the chip instructions in our  thermomix . We were following  the tips to blend the sauce after cooking the meatloaf and our TM5 failed & prompted a shutdown with error messages. Tried several times to restart with no luck. Error messages C160 & C161 appeared prompting shutdown.  We are also very frustrated... Can someone please help?

This is happening to me also. Had a large group of friends over showing it off making risotto, then it stops working.... not very good. Safe to say my friends are now definitely not interested
