I just tried the thread and it is not there. Has anybody solved the problem of the egg white sinking beneath the basket, leaving the poor little yoke bubbling around and the remainder of the white, deformed?

Hi there,
I am a little late to the party but I just tried the poached eggs recipe today and it went a little pear shaped with most of the egg white everywhere but around the yolk Puzzled
Unfortunately the link that you suggest to notes that will assist for next time seems to be broken. I have tried both of them on this thread and its a no go.
Can you let me know what the notes are on the poached egg recipe and I'll try that next time.
Thanks

I'm afraid your comment is untrue. If you put the eggs in prior to lowering the simmer basket, the paper does not float around so much. In fact, the more eggs you put in, the more the paper sits in place. This morning I cooked 7 poached eggs all together.

Try the sous vide eggs... So much better then poached

We made them this morning - first time in the Thermomix. They unfortunately didn't turn out well, we should've checked the recommendations on here before. Oh well, we'll just try again next time.  Smile

Hi Ameg123,

If you cooked poached eggs using the simmering basket, putting the baking paper is not idea as the paper would be floating around in the water with your egg.

For poached eggs in your TM5, please follow the recipe instructions in your cookbok with the accompanying notes on this forum thread and the recipe will work fine as the egg starts cooking the minute it hits the boiling water and it should not slip through the basket.

If you have any other queries on this recipe, please email recipes@thermomix.com.au

Hey,  I had a demo recently and purchased my TM5.  My Demonstrator told me that to cook poached eggs, you put a piece of baking paper? I think on the base of the basket, so the egg doesn't fall through.  Now reading your post, I'm wondering if the paper put on the base of the basket would not only stop the egg from falling through but also distribute the heat more evenly under the egg so there's no white runny bits?  I've not tried eggs before, but might be worth a try.  If you do, let me know how it goes Smile

Hi Helen F,

Please try the recipe using the notes on this thread. This will help you cook Poached Eggs successfully the next time.

I can't get this right!  I am doing everything the recipe tells me but the eggs come out with the white hanging through the basket and overcooked.  Does anyone have any hints with this recipe?  I love my poached eggs but have reverted back to stovetop for this.
