Forum Can I use scales to find the weight of the total contents of the bowl?
My TM31 bowl weighs 1080g without lid. So if I forget to tare, I just remove the bowl, tare and then place Bowl back in and subtract 1080g from the total. Too easy.
I made marmalade recently and strained the fruit pulp in the strainer directly into a clean TM bowl (FYI tip:I used a plastic back bag of blind baking beans in the top of the strainer to slowly squeeze the juice out over about 15 min). I needed to know how much liquid had collected in the TM bowl but couldnt use the scales to do this. I ended up pouring it out into another bowl first and then taring the scales on the empty bowl then pouring the juice back in.
It would be really useful to tare to the weight of the empty bowl in a number of situations. Such as when I cant remember if I pressed the scales button with the lid on or off and I am adding ingredients with the lid off. Then I could tare to the weight of an empty bowl without lid and find out if I weighed in the right amount. If you are adding lots of different vegetables for a soup and want to add known weights of a couple of key ingredients then top up to a target total weight with other things.
