hi all.   I am just new to the forum, and I too, had the C160 error.   It happened just before Xmas, but I didn't want to lose my TMIX for the holidays, so I kept it.   After the initial horror of having it happen (i turned it off on and on a few times, and also waited about half an hour for it to cool down)... it eventually got the job done (was making the vegetable stock paste at the time).   Anyhow, I took it in to get it looked at just the other day.   Turned it around overnight - even though they told me it might take a few days.   anyhow, VERY happy with my service experience.   The technician replaced the locking arms & control levers. He recalibrated & tested in full, all ok. Firmware updated.

So it looks like the C160 error has something to do with the locking mechanism.

Very, very happy with the outcome.   It certainly seemed worth it to get it into the service centre.

Smile

HelloTM

To say that I'm ropable is an understatement. C160 of course , and at Christmas. Why the HELL don't you people recall the model and deal with the issue properly!! I have several friends who, after having TM cooked meals at my place, want to buy. I have told them no, don't bother.  First there was the great " let's not tell them a new model is due out soon" scandal, and now this! Shameful and yes, Shonky - an 'award' deserved.

My new TM5 stopped working today keeps showing reverse enable.  Screen won't respond at all! I've only had it 2 weeks.  Guess I won't be using it over Christmas. Don't know whether to switch power off or keep it on and hope for the best.  Hope someone from Service department call me.

I'm so upset, just before Christmas and the great finale, my thermomix is displaying C160 error message, then shuts down.  I have turned it back on, to attempt completion of dish, but it just displays the same error message again and shuts down.  :(

Hi, my TM5 is around 11 months old. My husband was making 3 types of fructose friendly stock to give as Xmas presents. He was using the varoma. The machine stopped a number of times after displaying the C160 & C144 error message and shut down. I live in Melbourne, will someone contact me to arrange repair?

Shame on you Thermomix .... I have a TM5 which is 10 months old and today received the dreaded C160 error. Reading posts from others about this problem it seems that the error occurs when Varoma is used for an extended period. When I contacted Thermomix I was told that yes, this is correct. The hight temperature that Varoma generates dislodges the arms so the machine thinks that the lid is not locked and the machine shuts down. The only solution is to take TM to service centre for repair. I have done this and the existing arms will be replaced with a new model arm whereby this problem will not occur again. I'm going to a TM demo tomorrow night so I thought it was a fair question to ask at the service centre if the models being sold currently have the new model arm (after all you wouldn't want to sell a machine with a known fault). The answer is a big fat NO! Apparently not all machines have this problem (more likely they haven't cooked Dani Valent's chutney on Varoma for 45 minutes). I am deeply disappointed that Thermomix are not addressing this problem and seem to be hoping for the best.

My Thermomix stopped working today, in the middle of dinner preparations! IT is o ly 13 months old and I refuse to accept it's limitations because of age. I need IT for Christmas!!! The faults Numbers are 144 and 160. What an embarassment in front of people I have been bragging to about my Thermomix!!!

I am getting the C160 error message and the machine is shutting down, I can't finish my receipe because it just keeps needing to be turned off, very annoying, less than 12 months old. Seems that a feww people are having the same problem, what is it??

Hi TM,

i have noticed the C 160 error tonight whilst trying to prepare dinner. Appears to be a common error with the new TM5. Mine is also only 13months old and it is disappointing to say the least, especially this time of the year with Christams preparation.

I have also also noticed the arms are out of sync when closing

My consultant does not consult anymore, so how do I get in touch with service to have this problem repaired? And how does his now effect the warrenty and if the problem continues.

Your resonse would be appreciated.

Regards

Rachel

Just an update.... My tm was picked up by the couriers at 9.30am the following day after contacting the service department.

At 3.30 pm that day I received a message saying what was done and entire unit had been tested. Also that my tm would be collected by Aust post and tracking details would be sent via email

I received my tm the next day! In all 48 hour turnaround!! So happy with the service I received from start to finish. Well done Thermomix Perth. Smile Smile Smile

Not happy - my thermomix isn't 12 months old and am getting the C160 error.  $2000 machine and it does this? At the moment, thermomix sucks!  :(

I have just contacted Thermomix service department as my year old TM5 had error C160 and other issues yesterday :(  Can't complain as it is the first issue I have ever had with a thermomix.

I must commend the helpful gentleman at the service department.. he was brilliant. My thermomix is being collected tomorrow morning and will be returned as soon as it is fixed. Very helpful and efficient service from Thermomix Perth as always!! Smile Smile .

I rang the 1800 number yesterday and was told that they need to have the machine for a service and to replace the arms. It takes 7-10 working days to repair and return it. The number is 1800004838. They're in Perth so take that into account when you ring as they are 3 hours behind nsw.

Good luck

i am getting the c160 and c144 error coming up as well my machine is only 12 mths old, not very happy!  I informed the demonstrator on 07/11/15 she was excellent and told me on 08/11/15 that she had emailed all the details away to service department and somebody from Thermomix would contact me within the next two days. It is now 16/11/15 and have not heard a thing back from Thermomix.

Hi, our thermomix isn't quite 12 months old. I've loved it up to now but half way through tomato ketchup recipe it keeps getting the c160 error and then when I turn it on it gives the 144 lid error and then gets the c160 shutdown message. I'm not very happy at the moment as this is the second problem I've had with it . $2000 is a lot to spend on a product and youexpect things to work properly.

It it would appear the tm5 is no where near as reliable as the tm31.

What to I need to do to get this fault fixed?
