I started having problems with my scales about a year ago, phoned customer service, followed their advice and it seemed to work, for awhile....somedays no problems at all and then somedays they won't stop fluctuating. Everytime I thought right, thats it, they need to be fixed, they would start working again. Now they are fluctuating the minute you turn them on, everytime! I have tried all the troubleshooting to no avail. Typical, it is now out of warranty!
I didn't realise how common this problem is until I started this search but I think its time Vorwork did something about it. Not good enough for a machine that costs over $2K and now is going to cost me a bomb more! NOT HAPPY JAN!
I have just had the same problem with my scales working fine for over 12 months and then all of a sudden I switch on the machine and my scales do not read, they move between 0g and MAX.
Dont panic!. I did! I reset everything, I cleaned the feet, I checked the weight and nothing changed. I checked the forums and found heaps of people had the same problem and I was worried my $2000+ machine was a dud or the repair bill was going to be $$$$$.
This is a common problem with the machine, something inside may have come loose or worn over time. All you need to do is call customer service. They will arrange you to take it to your local service center or arrange shipping to a service center via Aust Post or Star Track. It is covered under warrenty so there is no cost to you, the only problem for you is the inconvenience of not having the machine for a day or few (pending on how you send it).
I am going to take my machine down to our local service center Monday. Its a bit of a drive but I would feel better dropping it in person.
I am writing this as there was not alot of helpful comments on here of what it is and how to fix it, just generic customer service responses and people worried about their machines so I hope this helps put people at ease and to just trust that Thermomix has your back!.
Hi Have been invited to thermomix party and was happy to purchase a tm5 at party, but after reading about the scale problem by so many will now reconcider. Will advise all who will be attending to read this forum first to decide if it it worth to spend so much if there is a known problem
My TM5 flicks from 0 to max. It has done for maybe 12 months. It did start working again for a day then went back to 0-max problem. I also have problems now with the recipe chip, it no longer is reading and comes up with a error every time I turn it on saying to clean it.
Our Customer Service team will be back to regular operating hours tomorrow, 2 January. Please contact us on 1800 004 838 and they will be able to help you directly.
Thank you for your query and patience, the Customer Service department is currently closed for today but will be back tomorrow for limited hours over the Christmas and New Years break. Best thing would be to contact the Customer Service team tomorrow on 1800 004 838 and they will be able to help you directly.
My scales on the TM5 have stopped working (read constantly zero). I have tried the troubleshooting items in the handbook for scales not working and have had no joy in resolving. I have left a message on the thermomix 1800 #.
Sorry to hear you are having some problems with your scales. Please give our Customer Service Center a call and they can assist you with more troubleshooting and/or arrange for your TM5 to be serviced.
During the holidays, our Customer Service Centre will be open from 27-29 December from 6am-2.30pm WST. You can reach them on 1800 004 838.
Hi, I'm experiencing the same issues with my TM5 bit over 2 years old now. Scales not registering. Could someone please let me know who I should contact?
I have tried to fix with the troubleshooting steps and still not working.
Sorry to hear about the issue you are having with your scales. We have flagged your post with our Customer Service Team. A member of the team will be contacting you directly.
We thankyou for your patience. Please call 1800 004 838 if you require more immediate assistance.
I bought a Thermomix 2 years ago – 12.11.2015 and unfortunately the scale on it is not working anymore. I've tried unsuccessfully to solve it myself so that's why I'm getting in contact with you. Could you please let me know what should I do / whom should I contact to sort it out?
Please try the below as this may help with your scales issue. If it doesnot, please call our Customer Service number 1800 004 838 and they will be able to further help you.
1. Ensure your Thermomix is sitting on a flat solid stable surface away from joins in the bench top
2. The power cable should be full extended (it is approximately 1 metre long)
3. Check that nothing, including the power cable, is touching the Thermomix or tucked up under it
4. Examine the three rubber scale sensors (feet) located on the base of the Thermomix to ensure they are clean with nothing stuck to them e.g grain of rice or food crumbs Complete this test while the Thermomix is not operating
5. Select the scale button, making sure you are not touching the Thermomix with your other hand at the same time
6. Tare the scale
7. Place an item with a known weight such as 500 g bag of sugar or 1 kg bag of flour on the lid of the Thermomix; check the weight and remove the item (canned items are not suitable as they can contain variations in weight)
8. Tare the scales and repeat the above step. If the item weighs the same amount for both tests then the scales are functioning normally and do not require service. (a small 10-20 g variance is quite normal when weighing 1kg items)
9. If the weight is the same but clearly not the correct weight, the Thermomix may need to be sent to the service centre
10. If weight fluctuates by more than 20 g +/- or if the reading continually flickers between weights and does not settle after a few seconds, the Thermomix may need to be sent to the service centre for the scales to be recalibrated
11. If the reading takes a moment to rest on a single weight but settles on a single reading after a few moments, the scale is functioning normally
Hi my scales are jumping all over the place and my machine isn't even 12 months old yet. Please advise what i should do. I love my Thermi but this obviously an issue

Hello
the scales on my thermomix have stopped working, not registering any changes in weight, just staying on zero. I did try troubleshooting - cleaning the base, unplugging from power point etc. Did work initially but not wroking at all now. Can this please be passed onto the customer service team
So I'm so happy to update that my Thermomix has been returned to me all fixed. I was disappointed that it needed repair but very happy with the wonderful service from Thermomix customer service ? still a thermie fan xx
Hi Add me to the list. Last weekend swinging wildly through weighing numbers when not even touching the bench or machine. Then normal, then last night 0 to MAX for no reason over and over.
Now working fine again today. My TM5 is 2 years and 10 months old!.
Thanks for your reply. I heard from thermomix today and they have sent through a label and have advised that they will fix this issue at no charge so I'm very happy with their response.
Now I just need to find an appropriate box to package it in.
I'll miss my thermie for the time it is getting fixed though.
I'll update the comments once I've posted it and it's returned.
I contacted Thermomix when same thing happened around same age of my machine. They were great. Tried a fix over the phone which wasnt successful but then fixed it at no cost and with postage paid in a short time. Nothing you ever buy comes with never a problem certainty but the response is the measure of the brand and I was happy. : ) No further problems for over a year now.

So disappointed. Just after 2 years after purchasing my thermomix my scales started going balistic yesterday. It either won't register anything or it flashes between 0 and max. I have tried resetting it etc. I emailed customer service yesterday but haven't heard back from them yet. Just wondering as it seems to be a very common problem... was your machine fixed? Was there a cost associated with the repair? I'm very disappointed that such an expensive kitchen appliance has failed in this manner. Besides this I love my thermomix. I hope this issue can be resolved ASAP.

I contacted Thermomix and had a great result. I need to get my machine to where it can be repaired (not too far away so will drop it off although I'm sure they organise a courier if need be) and it will be good as gold. We're going to be away for 2 weeks so that's rather convenient. Very helpful and friendly people.
