Forum TM5 scales fluctuating between 0 and max
Hi
We do not recommend that anyone takes apart their machine as it does mean that any type of warranty on the machine will become null and void.
We recommend leaving it to our Service Team who specialise in these machines and always happy to help.
Kind Regards
I had this problem too - TM5 scales showing 0/MAX. Tried all the suggestions with no success.
Eventually I took the unit apart and:
* unplugged and replugged the three connectors that go to the scale (labelled WAAGE)
* unscrewed and re-tightened the three screws that go down into the feet
I'm not sure which of these two was the ticket, but it now works great!
Hope this helps someone. Of course, if your Thermomix is under warranty then do send it in to be fixed, but if you're out of warranty and comfortable taking it apart, then this might save the Thermie a trip to Melbourne.
Matt

My thermometer scales no longer work, fluctuates between 0 and max. I have carried the basic recommendations (clean feet etc) to fix this to no avail. I have used the phone contact number but can’t get through. How do get this fault fixed.

Hi, you need to contact Thermomix who will give you a choice on how you would like to have your Thermomix delivered to their service centre. As I’m in Melbourne, Victoria, it only took a few days before it was back on my kitchen bench. I was amazed at the wonderful service I received. I must admit though, that some of the settings are a little different but working beautifully. Good luck
My TM5 Scales have just stopped working half way through a recipe. I have tried the troubleshooting tips to no avail, what is my next step? My thermie is not even 12 months old yet ?

Hello,
Having the same issue - tried all the toubleshooting tips but still goes between 0 and Max, any other weight on it is not recognized. Help please!

In the meantime, below are some tips and tests that might help:
1. Ensure your Thermomix is sitting on a flat solid stable surface away from joins in the bench top
2. The power cable should be full extended (it is approximately 1 metre long)
3. Check that nothing, including the power cable, is touching the Thermomix or tucked up under it
4. Examine the three rubber scale sensors (feet) located on the base of the Thermomix to ensure they are clean with nothing stuck to them e.g grain of rice or food crumbs
Complete this test while the Thermomix is not operating
5. Select the scale button, making sure you are not touching the Thermomix with your other hand at the same time
6. Tare the scale
7. Place an item with a known weight such as 500 g bag of sugar or 1 kg bag of flour on the lid of the Thermomix; check the weight and remove the item (canned items are not suitable as they can contain variations in weight)
8. Tare the scales and repeat the above step. If the item weighs the same amount for both tests then the scales are functioning normally and do not require service. (a small 10-20 g variance is quite normal when weighing 1kg items)
9. If the weight is the same but clearly not the correct weight, the Thermomix may need to be sent to the service centre
10. If weight fluctuates by more than 20 g +/- or if the reading continually flickers between weights and does not settle after a few seconds, the Thermomix may need to be sent to the service centre for the scales to be recalibrated
11. If the reading takes a moment to rest on a single weight but settles on a single reading after a few moments, the scale is functioning normally
We thankyou for your patience. Please call 1800 004 838 if you require more immediate assistance.
Kind Regards
I have just started having trouble with my scales flicking between 0 and 15 over or under for no reason. I've just tried turning it off and o on, re fitting the base, but nothing seems to work. Any advice could be appreciated
Hi, you need to get in touch with thermomix. Mine have now been fixed and working fine. Although the screen and a few other things are a little different but all good. I was not charged. I felt they responded quickly and did the repair in just a few days. I was very impressed. Good luck

My thermomix was also 3 years old but it was collected, repaired and delivered back, all free of charge. They even put a new seal on my lid and a new cover on my thermomix as there were a few fine cracks. I was very impressed. Picked up on a Tuesday, repaired on Wednesday and back on my kitchen bench by the Friday. I think that is very impressive
My scales have suddenly stopped working. They worked in the morning & then in the afternoon they just started showing 0 or Max. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting but nothing has worked. Will the repair be under warranty? We were given the thermo as an engagement present in around 2015...

Yes, my TM5 scales have also just stopped working. I tried resetting back to Factory settings, checked chord, feet etc, nothing has changed. Obviously there is a problem with this. Should there be a recall?

ahh! I'm having similar issues with the scales not working. My machine is about 5 years old.
I've just cleaned the feet, but they really weren't dirty anyway...
It's on the same bench as it's always been and it's clean...

Like others on this forum, my scales have also gone.
I made a banana cake yesterday and the scales were fine, once the cake was cooked and cooled, I went to make the icing and nada - no scales. So disappointing.
I will have to wait until monday now to call the help centre..
WOW! JUST WOW! Thanks so much Thermomix. Not only did customer service contact me the same day, but they arranged to have my thermie fixed goodwill out of warranty. I dropped it into the service centre myself expecting them to have it for at least a week...got the text message the same day to come and collect my baby. (They did offer to send it out to my address, but I figured they'd already done me a favour and I'd get it back faster.)
Impressive! Thanks again.
