Forum Travelling wit Thermomix
I successfully purchased another checked-in piece of luggage, and 'boxed' the Thermie. Included were extra varoma, extra bowl, extra basket, lid blades etc. I packed clothes and other soft items all around it.
It made it to just under the 23kgs that Air New Zealand allowed.
Both at Brisbane and Christchurch Airports, the customs officers were very curious as to the contents of the box. Makes for a bit of a laugh!
Hii had huge problems traveling with my thermomix by plane.
it does not fit in the overhead Locke’s of old 737s but does in the new 737s. It is heavy so exceeds handluggage weight. Mine is the T5M5 and in the travel bag is 12 kgs. Very heavy to lug around the airport.
I am investigating other options.
good luck.

hi,
We're travelling with jetstar to hawaii and thinking my thermomix will come in handy esp for my little boys.
Would really appreciate comments on people's experience with taking their's. is it worth taking it? did you get to use it enough? was the airline esp if jetstar ok with it onboard?
Much appreciated
X
It will be worthy to travel the team of thermo. It will be a great pleasure for me. http://www.swiftairportparking.co.uk/

Wondering if you have all taken your TM on as hand luggage with? or without the TM carry bag? (with blade in other bag). Do you just sit the TM in the overhead locker (with no protection) or under the seat? I've weighed my TM & with carry bag weighs 9.3kg (without blade) wich is 2.3kg over the allowed weight for carry on.
I am travelling in 1wk on 2 flights both Qantas - Pt Macquarie NSW De Ha villand Dhc-8 (Dash then Sydney to Darwin on Qantas Boeing 737.I've been to local airport & they said they can put TM on as Priority Luggage to Sydney but next flight does not have Priority Luggage. Any ideas?
Our furniture can take between 2-6wks to be transported so don't want to be without my TM for that long!! Will be withdrawals in hospital I think ha ha.
All or any help will be greatly appreciated as I am running out of time...
Regards
Sharon

You have substantially described travelling with thermomix in simple words. A person who don;t have background knowledge about thermomix have easily understood these details.
Thank you so much
Subsequently, after spending many hours on the internet at last We have uncovered an individual that definitely does know what they are discussing many thanks a great deal wonderful post.http://www.usefultravelsite.com/

Hi Norah, please can I ask what airline you flew with trans-tasman? Thank you
February 2016: I flew NZ to Australia and the thermomix in the bag did fit in the overhead locker even though it was over size and over weight!! Just lucky I thought. Then flying from Sydney to Cairns I had to take it out of the bag and lie it on it's side to force it in the overhead locker. If it didn't fit in the air hostess said it would have to be offloaded! I was just lucky it fitted and I am glad it still works ok. I would not risk that again. Next time I will pack it up and put it on with my luggage. It was too stressful.
Hi there
When travelling with your TM5, do you pack your TM in a different carry back to take onboard? I'm travelling with Jetstar.
Thanks
Hi all,
I am wondering if finally you manage to transport the Thermomix as hand luggage. I am flying on United Airlines to South America. Do you know if the Thermomix TM5 Travel Bag works for it?
Hi Kat
we're you able to take yours onboard Emirates??
Cheers
Kate

Hi Amille09 and Thermolish,
Unfortunately the TM5 bag does not fit in the overhead compartments on aircraft models Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.
While size of the carry bag should be within the requirements of most airlines, but it is best to measure and check with your airline.
Has anyone taken a Thermomix to Vanuatu? Did you a need a converter for the power? And are the TM5 Travel bags too big for hand luggage?
Would appreciate your advice!
Has anyone tried travelling with new thermomix? I need help as Jetstar spat it at me as I couldn't fit it in overhead compartment
Don't check in - just take the blade out (must go in checked-in bag) and keep the rest with you in cabin.
hi,
i was wondering, would you recommend to only fly with the thermomix as cary on luggage or can it be taken and checked in? will this be safe enough? i ask because i am not sure that it will be in the weight limit required for hand luggage 7kg?
thank you in advance for any advice on travelling overseas with prized possesion
Hi Deonie,
Just thought I would confirm for you that the travel bags are $120 and they can be ordered either through Head Office or through your TM Consultant.
To order through Head Office you can either email sales@thermomix.com.au or call 08 9276 6966.
Happy travelling!
$120 from memory.
Can somebody tell me how much the travel bag is?
thanks in advance

Hi everyone,
Thanks so much for you're replies! Very useful & great to hear you all take your Thermomixes with you too. Good to hear Thermo fits in the over head lockers but I will double check with my airline, Emirates, first and make sure those blades are check in. I can imagine there will be some interesting questioning in security too, will have to take some brochures with me...spread the word!
I travelled to Melbourne last year on Qantas and packed the blades in my suitcase but took the TM in it's carry bag on the flight - no problem. The lady doing the security scanning was more curious about how soon she might be able to have a demo!!
I've travelled twice to Brisbane from Melbourne with my TMX as hand luggage. I generally have it under the seat, but on my most recent flight home it had to go in overhead, as I was in an emergency exit seat - & I was worried it wouldn't fit - but it was fine. This was with Jetstar. On every trip I've been quizzed by the "customs" people, which I've found a bit amusing.
Hi,
Travelling with the Thermomix is fine to take in the carry bag as hand luggage as long as you pack the blades in your main luggage. The size of the carry bag should be within the requirements of most airlines but best to measure and check with your airline. It is only the blades that can't go on board.
Thanks
Hi Kat
i have taken mine interstate. i t fitted perfectly into the over head locker of the qantas flight. i thought i was in trouble when i tried the first time and it wouldnt fit but then put it on the other side where there were no hinges. i just wonder if it would fit on every airline though? do they have the same size overhead lockers? when i came back on the virgin flight i was a bit worried it wouldnt fit so i packed it up and sent it as extra luggage. it cost me $70 :(( and i was more than a bit miffed. havent tried taking it over seas though. hope others can help you further.
Has anyone taken their Thermomix as hand luggage on a plane? I'm planning a trip from Australia to the UK and would love to take my Thermo with me to show everyone back home how fantastic it is. I will invest in the proper Thermomix carry bag and obviously the blades will have to be packed in check in luggage. Just wondering if anyone has flown with their Thermo and encountered any problems taking it as hand luggage. Thanks!
