Can anyone tell me what soft spoon means?h

Run your finger perpendicular to the blade (i.e. 90 degrees to the blade, not in-line with the blade!). If it still has an edge (like a good pair of scissors), then all is fine.

I can run my finger along the bade with some pressure without cutting myself.
maybe i should send you the 2 blades i have for sharpening?

TM are correct in that the blades are not meant to be super sharp. The reason for this is that the TM blades are capable of doing far heavier duty work than any Ninja - eg grinding hard wheat etc. Super sharp blades would be destroyed in no time. However, the TM blades should have an edge to them when drawing your finger over it. When I resharpen TM blades for others, they usually have taken several years to reach the point of needing sharpening, so your expereince sounds quite unusual.

I have received a new pair under warranty after my first pair went dull. The new ones dulled within months. I only use the Thermo on odd occasions. Mainly for blending dates into a paste and some risotto and custard.
I called to complain and was told by the lady at TM that the blades are not meant to be sharp. They work by smashing the ingredients with speed!!
I am no idiot!!!
I have a Ninja that gets used on a daily basis. The blades are still razor sharp after 6 years of use.
Ninja cost $79 - TM cost $2,000.
Maybe TM should buy their blades from Ninja Smile

I got my machine in 2013 and understand that as it’s out of warranty I need to buy new blades. I was under the impression that they wouldn’t go full, and like many others was told by my consultant that crushing ice in the machine would keep the blades sharp. I don’t really want to be spending more money buying new blades for a machine that’s expensive enough to begin with. Is it possible to get my blades re-sharpened?

Have you checked the clutch on your blades? If the clutch is not okay, then you'll need a new blade. If the clutch is okay, then simply get your blade resharpened.

Hi Thermomix in Australia,

I am having the same issues as Miss Bee's. I purchased my TM31 in July 2013 and also mill alot of nuts etc for flours and nut butters due to multiple allergies in our family. I always follow the instructions on how much to load the bowl.

I received one pair of blades as a replacement under warranty, but I have noticed the same thing happening again. Recently I tried to make some coconut butter out of coconut flakes and it just wouldn't turn into butter but remained as chunky pieces which is very frustrating.

I am interested in finding out how to sharpen my blades or what else can be done?

Many thanks,

Rhiannon

I do a lot of milling of flours and spices, to  ensure all my food is gluten free.  My blades are no longer sharp and not milling as well.  How do I get them sharpened?  Will I need to buy new ones?
