Forum Variations for serving two and low calorie
Yes I’m finding I need to reduce the protein quantity so there is less waste when cooking for 2.
Hi MrsAshG
We understand there are a huge variety of options and cooking for four+ people means leftovers become monotonous and boring. Cooking for two (and a half) does mean that you have different needs to others cooking for a family.
The recipes in the 'Cooking for me and you' cookbook have some great recipes you can start with.
Cooking for less mouths, means lower ingredient volumes, therefore less liquid and lower cooking times and potentially lower heat. You can however, use these recipes (from 'Cooking for me and you' cookbook) as a guide to broaden your recipe portfolio. For instance, you can use the ingredient volumes and cooking times outlined in this cookbook and change the flavour profile to add variety to your base recipes. This cookbook also gives you good ideas on how to use your leftovers you may have left over from these recipes.
Have a look, explore and have fun doing it.
Good luck and happy cooking!
Thermomix in Australia and New Zealand Headoffice
Hiya, I'm new to the Thermomix community but as a new owner I'm alreday hooked and obsessed with my TM5! I had hoped that with the thermo we would reduce our wastage but i'm finidng it hard to cook for just two and a half people with most of the recipes I'm interersted in. How can I search this site for variations that have measurements for only two? And what low cal optioms are there, and how do I search them here or on cookidoo? Eveb the 500 calories collection doesn't offer much variety or option and 500 calories is a lot for a dinner every night (for our office working/sedatery family).
I have a toddler and a demanding part time job which is the only time my son is in care, so I have thrown myself into thermomix as best I can but even with a bit of creative ingredient variaions, I haven't been confident (or experienced enough) to reduce the portions, i.e. cooking times.
Can someone please tell me how to speficaly search for reduced portion and low calorie variations? Thank you in advance!
