After reading this wonderful thread tonight - I have been inspired to also name my Thermomix
So considering this beautiful piece of work was brought to life in France (which also happens to be one of my favourite countires) - I have decided to call her......
*clearing the throat* *preparing for french accent*
Jenée
...as in 'Jenesaisquoi'
Because I'm sure we can all agree that there is just SOMETHING about our TM that has captured our hearts! (hence why we are all here discussing 'baby names' for a kitchen appliance) lol I am sure many (non-TM owners) may even think we are crazy! Well I say to them "If we weren't all a little crazy, we would go insane!" - Peace & Love people xx
A friend of mine has called hers Ernie, and I have gone with Elmo, but not 100% sure with that one. Think i will go with what ever seems to come naturally when we talk about it etc etc
I have had mine since just before Christmas and as I am hopeless with Electronic gadgets, thought I would have lots of "stuff ups" so I called it "Gordon"...I think now I should change that as he has been 99% amazing..how about Jamie or Nigella now?!!
After much thought between ordering and delivery wait time, I decided to name mine ‘THERMALOT' Why? Well I intended to ‘therm - a- lot' once it came
Told my consultant at the delivery demo what my TM's new name would be and she has referred to it by name in emails...hehe, how sweet is that ....must admit to shortening that to Thermie at times
I decided I'm not the kind of person to name inanimate objects.... A bit proper like. It will be called 'The Thermomix' probably always said with the capital letters too.
After reading all the posts yesterday I walked into the kitchen to see 'My New Toy' (That's what it DOES get called) and decided it was like a Dalek from the first round of Dr Who and it does have this strange singing sound when it's finished. How does Ementy sound?
LOL Chantimama. If my daughter could talk she would be saying exactly the same. I had to leave my wonderful Frank AKA Thermomix hidden away in the cupboard for several months as my daughter was so horrified at the noise and used to cry. Fortunately for me she has grown out of that.
I usually just refer to it as Thermie, or My Thermie. I wanted to call it The Therminator, but my mean ole husband vetoed it! ;) My daughter calls it The Noisy Thing, which refers to the noise it makes when the timer goes off. In between each "Doo-doo-di-doo" she goes "OH!" so it's now The Noisy Thing!
Hi ladies, im new to the thermomix world, iv had my baby for 3 weeks and im in love....everytime i make something new i wait for my 26 yr old son to come home from work so i can show him my handy work...i have used my thermo every single day since getting it, sometime a few time a day...best decsion iv made was buying one...so here i am on this forum to give my son a break from my yapping so much about my therom. cant wait to start posting some of my own recipes...
My hubby has named ours the Food-motron. He is convinvced it will be his robotic dinner maker. Im sure you can guess he was convinced with the idea of simplicity yes?
Very cool thread! So funny what names we come up with... love reading them. My thermie is called 'Indy' as in indispensable, because I can't live without him!
Hey ThemoBloke, love the name! I was thinking how great cos if something was to go wrong (which can happen even in the bestest families!) You have the ready made exclamation: "Not happy, Jan!"
Well I have a brand new un-named thermomix (feels a bit like when my daughter was born ..... ) decisions, decisions, decisions....
I will be back with a update once I have been enlightened with the perfect name, unless someone here is overloaded with TM names they no longer need.......
Ours has always been Hermie. Customers have, Thor, Therminator, Thelma, Thermius Maximus, Thermo geezer, Vernon and many more. I love that the TM becomes such a member of the family that it has a name.
There is some confusion in the household over the name of my beautiful Thermie.
I have called her 'Jan' while other house members have there own names for her, 'Ev' and 'Thelma'. Perhaps that's a good sign that everyone loves her here.
I wonder if she could have three names
Jan Evelyn Thelma
Is this allowable under the TMX naming rules? LOL
I would love to see what other think and also to extend the list of names and why they were called that. There is likely some good stories here.
I am so enjoying this thread, thanks very much Thermo Bloke...but I do have that image of Thelma & Louise driving over that cliff... I would be so mortified if my "Joanna" thermie fell off the kitchen bench....Oh and Joanna was Winnies best friend who was a fantastic cook but sadly passed away due to cancer...Please keep those Thermie names coming..
My TM is Thelma, my old mate from primary school came up with it . Some of my customers have named theirs too - Louise, Theo, Trixie, TIlly, Thermie and Daphne so far. Every TM needs a name....
My Mum got her Thermie first and named it George after George Columbaris probably best known from Masterchef as she feels having a TMX is like having your very own Sous Chef.
Since she named her, her customers have named their own machines - Nigella, Maggie, etc.
Jan... Great name, and Jan will do amazing things for you, and I understand your careful and thoughful search for a name, I went through the same dilema and thought about nameing mine Winnie after my wonderful nanny in South Africa who managed to childcare and keep the house clean and tidy and was more than a nanny but part of our family but the only thing she didn't do very well was cook :O .... ....so back to the books for me...
After hours of consideration and after consulting my old 'baby names' book which I had to dust off, I have decided there could be only one name for this girl and that was to name her after my wonderful demonstrator who knows everything, is just a wizz and so helpful. I just hope some of it rubs off.
I am calling my TMX (drum roll)...... Jan
Nice name don't you think
Now, how many of you demonstrators hold the honour of having a bright shiny new TMX named after you.

As an Asterisk fan of long standing I wanted to name my Thermo something Roman sounding, so have decide on Cooksalottus, that us Lotty for short!
afraid I could never call it Thelma, that was my mother in laws name and her kitchen efforts were the stuff if nightmares, not gastronomic delights!
Love my thermomix!

Arrr Yes, 'The Therminator" is an excellent
name.
You must name yours and let us all know; I have found mine works far better after being named. LOL.
I think a Thermo Baby name book by Thermo Bloke and friends is on the way!!!
Since you are a demonstrator/seller, have any of your clients named theirs 'Nerine' after you? That would be a great name too.
Thermo Bloke loves his 'Jan'.
