Forum Main Meal all in the TMX
I was wondering if some one can help me? I'm making chicken soup, I have simmered the carcas for 5 hours, do you think the bones would be soft enough to pulverize in TM, but also is it ok to do that and use? Thanking you in advance.
Use half milk half water in the mash; then you'll be able to steam using varoma setting (sometimes I add a little more water depending on how long I am steaming). When veggies are done whip up your mash and enjoy! hope that helps.

I just got the Thermomix (2 days ago but haven't had time to play yet). I'm going to attempt a yoghurt chicken dish tonight. Will try steaming the rice using the basket and some veggies in the varoma for a complete meal
Thanks so much for all the ideas. I particularly like the idea of the Chicken, Tomato and Rice. Also, the roast is a good one too. I normally use the microwave to par cook my veggies and also do the greens in there. Using the TM makes much more sense and way less dishes!
Sorry, Tenina. I wasn't asking for recipes here, just ideas.
This is great, I had a go at doing this recently apart from par cooking the meat, which seems an interesting concept. I'll try it next time I roast ...
Wow Sharon, That makes you sound like Wonder Woman... It all makes sense tho so I shall try it... I have ony had my Thermomix for just on a month and I am loving it. Still learning tho.

Does anyone else use their TM for making a roast - winter is upon us in Adelaide so roasts are "in". I par cook my meat (chicken, leg of lamb, pork) in the varoma for 20-30 min whilst the oven is heating up. Then when the meat is in the oven in a roasting dish, par cook the potatoes in the varoma for 10-15 min.
Then cook cauliflower in the varoma/basket (depending upon size of cauliflower), remove it to a casserole baking dish, pour the flavoured water into a jug (saving it to use for my gravy), use the clean TM bowl to make bechamel sauce and pour that over my cauliflower (which is then ready to go in the oven/under the grill).
Clean the TM bowl, replace the flavoured water, steam my greens in the basket/varoma and when cooked keep warm in a pre-warmed Thermoserver (I run some hot water over the Thermoserver to take the chill off the metal). Meat/potatoes now cooked and removed to plate to rest.
Pour TM water into roasting dish, give it a swirl, pour it back into TM Bowl, make gravy in TM bowl and clean roasting dish in sink while gravy cooks. Voila roast all done and my kitchen is NOT a disaster zone of greasy pots and pans.
I'd be worried it would stick with all milk, or overflow - I always use my homemade rice milk in my mashed potato and it never overflows, but I know people say it does sometimes with cow's milk... It still tastes creamy with half milk half water, and you can add butter/cream/sour cream at the end if you want.
Thanks, I will try that next time. Do you know if it works ok that way with all milk?
To steam over mashed potatoes, I use 200g milk + 200g water, 1kg potatoes, and Varoma temp for 20 mins with Varoma on top and veges, leftovers, cubes of chicken, etc, in the Varoma tray.
Hi guys,
this is happening in a few threads on the forum, please try and post recipe links only in the forum and actual full length recipes into the correct format on the community so that all can enjoy...thanks
Only people following each thread will find them in here....
I do that a lot! For a quick easy meal: 'fried' rice; or mashed potatoes, marinated chicken & veges; or chicken & cashews with rice; spaghetti and meatballs (pasta sauce in jug, meatballs on top, spaghetti in jug with sauce towards end); sometimes just rice or mashed potatoes in the jug with veges in one tray (of Varoma) and leftovers on baking paper in the other tray (eg. casserole/curry) - great for heating up leftovers! Also like making soup in jug with steamed buns (filled or plain) on top for a quick meal. Sometimes I use my Varoma 3 times in a day! :D
I have tried a few times to steam over the mashed potato's very unsuccessfully. Is it possible to turn them up to Varoma to get the steam, or do they burn to the ?
Any tips greatly appreciated.
That sounds really nice! Thanks.
I've made Jo's Steamed Fried Rice, but my family didn't like it. Probably because I used brown rice....
My favourites are Jo's Fried Rice with the omelete on the top and Spicy Chicken with Sweet potato on Steph Bergs web site i have converted this recipe (again:) ) and now add the rice in the basket
with the Tomato and stock and some water. its delicious and you end up with a tomato rice.
here are the changes
Spicy Chicken & Sweet PotatoFeeds about 6Ingredients:1.2kg chicken thighs (I used de-boned and skinless)1 tbs olive oil1/4 teaspoon chilli flakes1 teaspoon sweet paprika1 teaspoon ground cumin1 teaspoon ground coriander500g sweet potato, peeled and chopped (if medium into 8 pieces)1/2 tablespoon veggie stock concentrate1/2 cup water1x 400g can of crushed tomatoes
400gms basmati ricePreparation:1/ Mix olive oil, chilli flakes, sweet paprika, cumin and coriander together.2/ Toss chicken in oil mixture to coat.3/ Layer chicken and sweet potato in Varoma, leaving enough space in the base for steam to move through the Varoma.4/ In the bowl add the veggie stock concentrate, water and crushed tomatoes. Place rice in basket and add to bowl.5/ Cook for 45 minutes, speed 1 at Varoma Temp.6/ When cooked tip Rice in large casserole over bed of baby spinach leaves add chicken and sweet potato.
I put the leftover sauce in a jug and put on the table for people to add it for themselves otherwise the rice soaks it up and it goes a bit dry.

How many of you make a complete main meal in the TMX? I don't do this very often, though there are a couple of recipes such as Baf65's (from the other Thermomix Forum) all in one Chicken Dish that I do occasionally.
