Forum FODMAP intolerances
Hi Everyone,
I've been Fodmap for the last 3 months more or less.
I bought a thermomix about a week ago.
As with all my other cooking, I just omit the onion and the garlic and shop for foods that are FODMAP friendly as the main bulk of my diet. All things made with other herbs for the flavour that you do miss for onion or garlic are doubled. Sometimesinstead of onion I will use the green of spring onions
If I do eat garlic or onion (whilst out for example), I have Digest Zymes and Houston Enzymes (No-Fenol) a naturopath reccomended. No bloating or gas afterwards so they definitely work. You can buy them from iherbs.
The onion replacement powder is call asofoteida (avialable in asian groceries or online. It's quite cheap too)
Hope all this helps. From a no longer bloated cook of tasty foods!
Hi my name is Anne
Im 55 and have to follow fodmap for a while for IBS and then slowy reintroduce some foods after a few weeks to trial.Gosh I hope I can get back on dairy.I am feeling a little lost with cooking options. Its very restricitve.I downloaded the Monash App for $9.99 and its really good especially when doing shopping.,It has a traffic light guide on foods and some good recipes.
Hi I am new to thermomix and am hoping it will assist in me getting back on track with following low fodmap diet. I was diagnosed 18 months ago and have successfully omitted garlic and onion. I have used garlic oil in my cooking up to date (I have noticed there is a recipe on here for garlic infused oil) and I can safely use the green part of spring onion so will try some recipes with this in place of onion once my TM arrives this weekend. There is a powder (the name escapes me atm) that is fodmap suitable for replacing the onion taste. the monash app i have heard is great for cheking foods that are or aren't safe and there a heaps of lists on pinterest which I have found. i hope this helps in some way
Hi,
I am a 54yr old female who has also just been diagnosed with irritablebowel syndrome and need to follow the Low FODMAP diet for 8 weeks. I have found an Australian website 'Shepherd Works' with information and books for sale on this particular diet & recipes. I have ordered them and am sure I will be able to adapt them to thermomix cooking.
Hope this helps. Linda
Hi my young teenage daughter has just been diognosed with IBS and our doctor has suggested she follow a LOW FODMAP diet.. Ive had a look on RC and there are limited recipes. Can anyone suggest a website they have used and found useful.
Thankyou
Hi Ann
I too cannot use garlic or onions and have been diagnosed with fructose malabsorption. In my recipes I leave out the mischievous ingredients and look for bumping up the herbs, spices, vegetable stock concentrate which I make w/o the gremlins and ogres (garlic and onions). I also consider using a little wine, but I know grapes are a nono too.
I usually throw together my risottos with whatever I have in the fridge plus some of the above extras.
Try some garlic infused oil as a substitute. Hope that helps
Hi, I'm new to Thermomix and desparately searching for recipes that don't include garlic or onions.Does anyone have a thermomix risotto recipe without garlic??
