My Thermomix has only been on one interstate flight and from memory that was with Virgin.  It fitted easily into the overhead locker, Varoma and all.  I wouldn't think of checking it in, having seen too many bags being tossed around like footballs.

I'm wanting to take mine on a flight to New Zealand in January.  I presume that nobody experienced any problems with having the thermie x-rayed, if taking on as hand luggage?

Thanks Anne, I agree about sending it as baggage, I just couldn't do it !,

i have a plaster cast on my arm at the moment and if it wasn't for the Thermie there wouldn't have been any home made food on the table.

I have flown this year and last for my daughters sport and took my Tmx with me. Never liked the idea of putting it in the overhead - have you seen how ppl slam their stuff in?

i have checked it in as baggage, paid a little extra sometimes ($20) taken it to oversize baggage and sent it on its way. It is then insured for damage.

No harm done - it's always in a Thermie bag so scales are protected. Think  about the other items they are trusted with - cases of wine, musical instruments, sporting equipment etc.

I would much rather this than watch an ignorant passenger slam their cabin baggage on top of my Thermie.

Hi Jayowl and Sash,

just wondering how you went taking your thermie on the tiger flights. I'm travelling with tiger in 2 weeks and really want to take it with me.

Hi Flic and Sash,

Yes, I too would like to know the answer to this one.......

Travelling to Perth on Jetstar and back on Tiger- would really like to take my TM....... would be so handy!! How did you both get on with your travel experience with carrying it on as hand luggage with respect to (a) weight,   and (b) fitting it into overhead lockers. Again, I would never contemplate anything but hand luggage for my precious TM, with blades stowed in booked luggage.  Many thanks Smile

Hi Sash

I am heading to Perth from Singapore and wanting to take my TM on a Tiger flight.  Did you take yours and how did it travel? Did it fit in the overhead lockers?  Thanks in advance Smile

Thanks everyone, I guess I'll have to have a try and see what they say. Fingers crossed!! Bigsmile

Hi  I carried mine (minus the blade) as hand luggage on board Emirates without any problem.  Good luck !8)

HI sash1407,

Maybe somebody else has tried to take their T/X on plane? I'd be interested to know too.

Thanks Anne,

I was definitely not going to send it as baggage, just stow the blades and take the rest on board with me, I have heard that Tiger are very strict on their carry on so I don't want to get stuck at the airport with it and not be able to take it and have to try and sort something out pronto!

Yeah, I understand your concern. My T/X went to Tassie & back on the Spirit in my husband's ute - passenger seat. I went by air. I thought about taking my T/X on the plane, but the travel case is quite large and I wondered about it fitting in the overhead lockers, no way would I send it as baggage. Anne Smile

Hi everyone, we are travelling interstate very soon and are wanting to take our thermie to self-cater whilst away. Does anyone know if in the travel bag it meets their restrictions, fit in the overhead lockers etc?

Thanks in advance! Bigsmile
