Forum Weighing scales inaccurate?
I, like you mylittlemod, like to be precise with my measurements, so mainly use my digital scales. I even put my TMX jug on the scales and weigh directly into that, especially when baking cakes etc. I'm not so fussed with bread, where it doesn't matter so much. When using the TMX scales, especially over 100g I go to the measurement below what I need. I still love my TMX, but it does have its limitations as far as measurements go, but once you understand how it works you can adjust accordingly.
Yes - as honeypalm says - 5 gram increments up to 100 grams - then will weigh in increments of 10 grams
The scales work in 5g increments from 5g to 100g and then 10g increments from 100g to 2000g. Another thing that can affect your scales is the cord, is it completely pulled out? It may also be helpful to read page 27 in your instruction manual regarding the scales and variations. I hope this helps.
ive never noticed what increments it weighs in...I just keep pouring until it reaches the desired amount. You can test the scales by weighing your measuring cup. it should be between 25-30 g
Just lately I have noticed that my TM31 is not weighing in 5 g increments as I think it always has. Up to 100 g will measure in 5 g but beyond 100 g it measures in 10 g increments. Once I noticed this issue I started to measure out using my digital kitchen scales and have noticed that there is usally a 20 g discrepancy between the two. The TM31 usually weighs around 20 g more than my separate scales. I have always measured ingredients down to the gram when baking but have gotten used to 5 g but now it all seems inaccurate and I am losing faith in the TM's ability to weigh when I put everything into one bowl. The TM is on a stable work surface where it has always been. I don't move it much except to clean around it, it's not resting on the cable or has any crumbs etc trapped underneath. Anyone else noticing this kind of inaccuracy and 10 g increments. I am pretty sure it has always been in 5 g no matter how much I weigh out. Thanks!
