  • 150 grams chillies, red
  • 150 grams sugar

Recipe's preparation

    Candied Chillies
  1. Pre-heat oven to 180°C (fan-forced) and line a baking tray with baking

    paper. 

  2. Top, deseed and slice chillies.

  3. Add water and sugar to TM bowl. Mix for 5 minutes, at 100°C, SPEED 2. 

  4. Add sliced chillies to the syrup and cook for 20 minutes, at 100°C,

    REVERSE SPEED 1.

  5. Drain chillies (reserving syrup for use over icecream or in cocktails etc)

    and spread in a single layer on the tray.

  6. Bake for 5-10 minutes, or until dried out but not blackened. 

  7. Allow to cool completely at room temperature (they will harden and look

    glassy) before storing in an airtight container.

    I thought I would do this as a quick recipe after dinner. It took me 30 mins to de-seed the chilli (maybe I am really slow), add 30-35 minutes cooking time and then I left it in the oven for 8 mins and it burnt to a crisp. 😩 the few pieces that we could eat, were super hot 🥵 despite no seeds. I stuffed it completely and won’t be attempting again.

    The taste is good...but they are not crunchy... I don't know why..I followed the recipe step by step! Next time I will reduce the amount of water...
