      Recipe is created for
      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
5

Recipe's preparation

  1. Put Garlic, Ginger and Chilli into bowl     5 sec / speed 7

Add Quartered Onion  5 sec / speed 7

    Scrape down sides of bowl

    Add Butter and Saute   3 min / 100 deg / speed 1

Add Curry Powder, Tumeric, and seeded mustard

    saute 2 min / 100 deg / speed 1

Add sugar and vinager mix  5 sec / speed 3

Add beef, tomatoes and stock.  Cook 40 min / 100 deg / Counter-clockwise operation 1 or less

Add cream and cook 1 min / 100 deg / Counter-clockwise operation 1 or less

Now you need to check your meat to see if it is soft and falling apart, or still chewy.   The next cooking time will vary depending on the cut of meat that you used.   Chuck steak should take another 40 min approx, anything else will be less.  Alter to suit.

    40 min / 100 deg / Counter-clockwise operation1 or less

Pour into Thermo Server to keep warm.

Serve with Mashed Potato, Pasta or Rice.

    Submitted by debalino on 14. November 2020 - 20:56.

So I kind of made this for Mstr14 and Mstr12 tonight, with some adaptations to suit my pantry.
I used leftover roast beef (about 250g cos that was all that was left) cut into strips, as it needed eating before it went off. When it had been cooking for ten minutes, I added diced potatoes and diced pumpkin. Five minutes later I added 3/4 can coconut cream instead of cream, and cooked for 25 minutes. Then I threw in about 6 button mushrooms quartered and cooked through for another 5 minutes or so.
As it was all cooked together I didn’t need to dirty another pan making rice or mash potato, so I served it with store bought naan bread.
Theres heaps of the sauce left, so tomorrow the teens will get it again for dinner, then I will
freeze the leftover juices and add diced chicken to it next time.
I have two full and content boys!

  • So popular with people who don't like curries!...

So popular with people who don't like curries!

Loved it - great flavours. I added carrot and large cubed potatoes for the final cooking segment - in hindsight, may add the potaties if cubed at 2cm for final 20 minutes.

If you cube the beef too small - it will start to break down - so keep it a good 3 - 4 cm cube.

Will be added to the ongoing repertoire here.

    Thanks

This was delicious and really easy to make. I didn't have all the ingredients so made the following changes- left out the ginger, used only 1 onion, used chilli powder instead of paste, veg stock instead of meat stock. The meat was tender and the curry had just the right amount of flavour for the whole family to enjoy. I boiled potatoes and threw them in the curry before serving. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing! My whole family loved this, even my fussy 3 year old tmrc_emoticons.) I'll definitely be making this regularly.

I used half the sugar and instead of cooking the meat in the TM5 I browned it first in a pan then let it cook & soften in the slow cooker; I poured the ingredients from the TMX over the meat and left it for 5 hours, was awesome!!

After making this I realised the recipe was very similar to creamy beef curry , a family favourite. I used gravy beef and much of it shredded. Next time I will use speed soft instead of .5. Flavours are good although I do prefer the stronger flavours of the other curry.

This is seriously fantastic. So much flavour and a great use of a cheaper cut of beef. I omitted the chilli and one of the onions. Next time I'll use less curry powder as it was a bit strong for us, but otherwise, this will be a regular.

    great curry for kids!

My 7 yr old has been dying for a curry but we like it too hot. This one was awesome for her, and even my 2 yr old ate it all up! So great for the kids, a bit like a curry caserole for us spicy eaters but its so nice for the kids to start building up their taste buds! I sprinkled heaps of chilli over mine and was very enjoyable. Yummy the next day also. Thanks for a great recipe!

Submitted by My Rose on 5. November 2015 - 15:24.

I made this last week & it was just delish! I only had 500g of chuck steak so added 500g of mixed veg incl sweet potato, it also was cooked for 40mins twice. Just lovely & really authentic, also very tasty after a day or so. I am making it again today which we will have for tomorrow night so the flavours really infuse. Also thinking of making a cauliflower rice to go with it. Thank you for posting & thanks for everyone's helpful tried & tested comments  tmrc_emoticons.D

Very tasty although a little too sweet... cooked this tonight using Blade steak and cooked for an additional 10 minutes, although probably didn't need this.

I also steamed some diced potato, carrot and beans and tossed them them before serving.

Will try again but halve the amount of sugar

    Thanks for the recipe
