Recipe's preparation
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Place the pumpkin and parsnip into the Varoma dish. Place the water into the mixing bowl. Place the Varoma into position. Steam the vegetables 20 min/Varoma/speed 2 or until tender (larger pieces of vegetables may require a longer cooking time). Discard the cooking water.
Insert the butterfly whisk. Place the steamed vegetables into the mixing bowl with the butter and mash 25 sec/speed 4 or until smooth. Transfer to a bowl and refrigerate until needed. Clean and dry mixing bowl.
Place the carrot, zucchini, onion and garlic into the mixing bowl and chop 4 sec/speed 5. Scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl with the spatula. Add the olive oil and lamb mince, stir through with the spatula and cook 5 min/Varoma/"Counter-clockwise operation" /speed 1. Stir again with the spatula to break up any lumps of mince.
Add the tomato paste and tomatoes and cook 5 min/Varoma/"Counter-clockwise operation" /speed 1. Add the parsley and stir through with the spatula. Spoon the lamb mixture into a 2 litre ovenproof dish (or use 2 dishes or 6 smaller ramekins).
Top the lamb mixture with the reserved pumpkin and parsnip mixture. Sprinkle over the cheese and drizzle over a little oil. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned.

Tip
As a general rule, the recipes in my book don’t include salt and pepper. Added salt is bad news for younger children, their less mature kidneys can’t cope. After setting aside your child’s serving, by all means please season your portion to taste.
We recommend using courgettes which are smaller than standard zucchinis.
We also recommend using a mince with a higher fat content, as lean mimce can sometime have water added to it, which comes out in the cooking process.
Baby's serve: For a younger baby, blend together the shepherd's pie filling and topping, adding as much liquid (water or your baby's milk) as needed to achieve the desired consistency. For an older baby, chop up to a consistency that can be easily eaten with a spoon.
Toddler's serve: Prepare as for an older baby or simply serve as is.
This recipe can also be prepared in Thermomix TM5.
This recipe and over 80 other delicious recipes can be found in my cookbook, Something for Everyone, available at the Thermomix Online Shop //bit.ly/1D4zjdc or through your Consultant.

This was delicious. I used two zucchinis because we are growing them in teh back yard and I have a lot to use up. Yes it made the dish slightly runny but not to the point that it was ruined. I made a vegan version, so plant based mince, nuttelex etc and also added a Massel 7 stock cube as other comments said it could do with some seasoning. I went back for seconds. Overall very happy and will definitely make this again.

I made this last night but I added a teaspoon of salt and pepper 2 tablespoons of tamari and 400 grams of fresh truss tomatoes instead of tin (I chopped them before starting recipe) it was amazing.. yes it was a little watery but I just spooned the water out.. I think I will put a little arrowroot in it next time...

So disappointed! ...
So disappointed!
I should start by saying I love Louise Fulton Keats recipes and have three of her books. I find her recipes are usually reliable and that's why I thought I'd give this Shepherd's Pie a go. I am familiar with her not adding salt and as my kids are older I added seasoning. I thought the flavour of this dish was nice. However, I had the same issue as a lot of people in these comments. So watery! And my mince cooked to a mush. I know that eastern states zuchinin's are smaller than ours here in the west so I only added one but I think a half would have been sufficient. Maybe less. I also don't know how you can ever cook mince in a thermomix and not have it turn to mush. Family was not impressed with tonights dinner.
disapponting!!! My dinner is

My dinner is nothing like the picture, its realy Yuck
Wished I had read comments
Wished I had read comments before making! Just put it in the oven, very watery!!! Also should cut up cheese before proceeding with recipe. Had to get my grater out at the end. Took forever to make, so unless it taste awesome will not be making again. This is the first recipe I have tried out of her book, hopefully they aren't all like this.
Yummy! Will make again. I
Yummy! Will make again.
I cooked the lamb and veges for 10 minutes (step 4) and then in step 5 I cooked for 20 minutes, and I did not have any problems with the mix being too 'watery' as mentioned in other comments.
I used sweet potato instead of pumpkin.
I found it quite watery
I found it quite watery aswell.. but after cooking it for another 30 mins in the thermomix, it helped thicken the sauce. But overall, it lacked a bit of depth In flavour. Was going to buy the cook book as I heard great reviews about it but not sure now. I have to say, my baby loved it though!

Lovely, thank you. I seasoned
Lovely, thank you. I seasoned it a bit more, due to some of the comments. And it was perfect. I didn't find it to be watery at all. Great recipe.

Added lots of seasoning to mine and all enjoyed it. My 3 year said she loved it and at every last mouthful 2 nights in a row
Hi, I've got the book and
Hi, I've got the book and made the Osso bucco - it is delicious and my friend has made it twice in one week. Please don't let one poor recipe put you off the book
Terrible & watery. I made
Terrible & watery.
I made this a week ago. There was no comments up when I made it.I only used one zucchini and it was so watery. Would have been worse with anyother zucchini added. Tried draining off most of the liquid before adding the potato. But still watery after being cooked in the oven. The flavour was extremelly bland even after adding salt & pepper. The taste was like baby food and I'm sure a baby would of loved it but for adults it was terrible. Dog liked it!
Thermomix should try these receipes before putting them on there webpage. Can't say I will be rushing out to buy this cookbook.
This recipe needs something
This recipe needs something more than just a bit of seasoning with 1 tbsp of stock concentrate. It needs to be adjusted to reduce the amount of liquid left in the meat sauce as it is very watery.
Not too happy with this. Wish
Not too happy with this. Wish I'd read the comments first, as I would have adjusted the recipe.way, way too much liquid. The dogs will be having it for the rest of the week
Hi everyone, Thank you for
Hi everyone,
Thank you for your feedback.
As a general rule, the recipes in Something for Everyone do not contain added salt as it can be hard for young bodies to process.
Louise recommends seasoning the meal with salt and pepper after setting aside your child’s portion. If making this meal for older children and adults only, you may wish to stir through 1 tbsp of stock concentrate in step 5.

I made this last night, but
I made this last night, but found it to be a bit bland. Next time I will definitely be adding stock concentrate and possibly soya sauce, and definitely some salt and pepper. Love all the vegies in it though, and my two fussy eaters ate it without complaining!
Disappointing. Made this for
Disappointing.
Made this for dinner tonight, very sloppy mix. Bland with a slight undercooked onion flavour. Won't bother trying it again. Was going to buy book but a bad example to showcase.
Very disappointed, my end
Very disappointed, my end result looks nothing like the picture way too much liquid in the meat sauce.
I did this recipe tonight
I did this recipe tonight ,tasted like baby food too, I didnt even want eat it Anyone have any idea what I've done wrong?
Thank you, It was great meal.
Thank you, It was great meal. I used sweet potato instead of pumpkin and parsnip and put in a few different vegies plus a bit of beef stock.
Was delicious, easy, quick and my picky five year old even liked it.
When I made this it had too
When I made this it had too much liquid in the mince and the excess liquid watered the taste down. I would make it again but replace the parsnip with potato. Also, I would blitz the zucchini separately and put it in the simmering basket along with the tomatoes and let it drain for a few minutes before adding them to the mixing bowl.
Bland, tasted like baby food.
