Tip

Obviously if you want your eggs even firmer, cook for longer (17 min).

I love poaching my eggs this way; no shells, no spinning water and vinegar, no fuss!

**Added note** - The size of your eggs will affect the end result. I used 800g organic eggs. Also, The closer you place the eggs to the centre of the Varoma tray, the quicker they will cook.

Where is the cooking time recommendation that everyone is talking about? How long for soft eggs?

  • Just made these.  I first

    Submitted by JacE on 15. January 2016 - 09:23.

Just made these.  I first attempted the poached eggs in the bcb, total disaster!  These were perfect.  So easy for the kids to eat too,  i left them in the cups and they could dip their toast in the yolk  and scoop out the white. Hubby said 'you're on a winner here' . I set to 8 minutes and needed to do an extra 2 minutes,  still gooey yolk and some whites were only just cooked,  but i think my eggs were 885g so that's probably why.  Thank you, will defintely do again.

Love the cooking guide for consistency. My error was the silicone cups I used didn't allow the lid to fully close so I had to have them in a little longer. But it's in my recipes file to be used again!

I agree with the size of eggs making a difference. I'm away on holidays at the moment without my beloved TM(!!!) but as soon as I get back I'll have another go and let you know. But I do start cooking from the get-go...

Submitted by The Kissell Clan on 6. April 2015 - 09:47.

I do a "make it up as you go along" version of this already in the Varoma, but I was very excited to see your cooking guide for yolk consistency. Nice touch tmrc_emoticons.) We chose 10 min so it was somewhere between very runny and soft but they came out looking more like 13 minute eggs. So can I just check you are not placing the eggs into the Varoma until at Varoma heat for these times?
