Tonight we are having Ragu with Spaghetti and Pizza Bianca. yum yum yum.

Ooh the ragu sounds good! Where's the recipe from?

its in the back to basics book and its a staple diet in our house as its the one thing you can guarantee my toddler will eat!

The Ragu is in the EDC everyday cook book page 64 tmrc_emoticons.wink We are having pizza pockets tonight tmrc_emoticons.bigsmile

Buttermilk bread, Butter and Pumpkin Soup followed by Blueberry sorbet. Can you tell I had my delivery demo today  tmrc_emoticons.bigsmile

Everyday cook book. Thats what I meant. Sorry about that. Its been a long week!

Haha no problem, I thought that's what you meant!

tonight we had chilli con carne (with my own spin on it) from cyndi o'mearas cookbook, yum yum, so good in fact we have had it 2 nights running!

VickiH I was wondering what you meant. I thought it must be an old book I had never seen before tmrc_emoticons.smile

Tonight I cooked mashed potatoes in the jug (200g milk, 200g water) on Varoma temp, with carrots and asparagus steaming in the Varoma, and a leftover casserole warming up on the top tray on baking paper.  It made more than enough for our 6 - now I've got leftovers again!  Oh well  tmrc_emoticons.smile

Mashed potatoes here too.  And coleslaw.  Served with some other easy salads, feta and eggs.

Tonight was pumpkin soup (my own recipe - love that it's so easy to convert them to make in the TM!) and cheesy scrolls using the basic bread recipe.

I also made the herb and garlic dip to take to a picnic lunch today and in the car on the way home, I gave my four year old DD some crackers to eat and she asked if she could have dip too, which I handed over and she snarfed it like you wouldn't believe!

Tonight I made chill con carne with mexican chili beans as well as red kidney beans. It smells divine.

I know this may sound stupid, but what do you eat Chilli Con Carne with?

We usually have it with rice and steamed green veg. But tonight because hubby was out we had it with original corn chips, sour cream, salsa, lettuce, chopped tomato's and melted cheese. All built like a hay stack. Some mashed avocado would have been awesome but we didn't have any.

Oh yum, that sounds great Chrissy.  Will have to try that myself.

Tonight, (my first night with my TM31) I made the Creamy Tomato and Salami Fettucine and it was awesome!  I'm a terrible cook and this is a definite thumbs up for me! LOL

HI again tangojo. glad you enjoyed it. If you aren't really into salami, try the dish with chicken as well. it gives it a slightly different slant to the dish.

Thanks for the tip Vicki. I like the idea of chicken - will give that a try next time round.

Cheers

Jo

We had Apricot Chicken Rissotto style from the everyday cookbook.  Or out varient of it anyway. Was very nice.  Not enough leftover to do anything useful with tmrc_emoticons.smile

We had the warm chicken and pumpkin salad with couscous, pizza bianco and berry delight. Just did my Varoma training last night so am testing out some of the new recipes for demo. Yum!!

Tonight I'm cooking the chicken tenderloins that I've been marinating in Chookie's (from the other forum) KFC spice mix and yoghurt.

Will the (shallow) fried chicken with mashed potato in TMX basket (mash in Thermoserver), gravy in TMX bowl, corn and peas in Varoma.

tonight is flaky filo spinach slice from Budget Busters and spicy potatos (tapas) from my way of cooking.

Crispy Chicken Strips were absolutely divine. Even yummy cold and batter was still crunchy.

Tonight we are having Pumpkin and Chicken Lasagne.  Smells good, is in the oven.  Almost 2yo demolished a bowl of the Chicken layer as she wasn't patient enough to wait the 30 minutes to bake.

Which book are they from?

We had my Sausage Casserole with Dumplings tonight: http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com/2010/07/sausage-casserole-with-dumpli….  Yum!  tmrc_emoticons.bigsmile

tmrc_emoticons.love my thermomix, hate my broken wrist!  Tonight steak and chinese salad...

Make pouring sauce:

1/4 cup of both white wine vinegar & caster sugar

1 tbs light soy sauce

2 tbs sesame oil

1/2 cup of sunflower or evo

1 packet Changs noodles

Coleslaw [p.39 EDCookbook] with a couple of spring onions added; thenpour sauce over and mix in the noodles and a handful of cashew nuts.

The noodles add a crunch, theyt will go soggy by the morning but it will still taste great for lunchI

I usually make some fresh white bread to go with it. YUM!!

Tonight I made a super quick stir-fry with tofu, broccoli, zucchini & mushrooms...

30g toasted sesame oil and 200g firm tofu chopped in chunks(marinated in 2Tblsp tamari & 1 Tblsp mirin)

cook for 3 mins on varoma temp. reverse + speed soft

add two cups broccoli florettes, half med zucchini chopped and a handfull of sliced mushrooms

Cook for a further 4-5 mins on varoma adding a splash of water and any left over marinade from the tofu.

We just ate in on a bed of baby spinach as I didn't want to take the time to cook rice!

So quick - I didn't even start with ginger or garlic but that extra step could've definately made it more tasty!!!

Received my TM 31 yesterday!

Today, I made banana bread, satay chicken (adapted from curry chicken recipe) lemon custard, choc mousse, butter and garlic butter.....next - a plan loaf of bread. I may marry this TM31 if it's ever legislated as legal. tmrc_emoticons.smile tmrc_emoticons.love

Ms Smack: I got mine yesterday too!! It is awesome. Last night I made risotto, butterscotch self saucing pudding and vanillla custard. Today I am making bread at the moment. Butter chicken tonight with Naan bread. yummy.

We had sort of Thai fish cakes, mashed potato in the bowl on Varoma temp, and fresh flathead steaming in the basket. Sautéed some onion and garlic next, then added a little red curry paste and blended it all together. Rolled lumps in flour and pan fried and served with greens. Yumm!!!

I received mine yesterday and can't stay away from it! In 24 hours have made:

chocolate custard (amazing - restaurant quality)

Banana muffins - ok, not the best muffins ever,  but I made a few substitutions which no doubt affected them.

CADA - my 18mth old wanted more!

Cheese and Bacon rolls - perfect!

Guacamole - loved

Apricot Chicken -Nice, daughter liked it, so its a winner tmrc_emoticons.smile

Now busy working out what I will cook tomorrow!

I'm fairly new to Thermomix and this is my first post on these forums.  Tonight I made the Vindaloo from the Fast and Easy Indian cookbook.  Instead of the using chicken fillets I used chicken on the bone and put it in the oven at 160C for 50 mins.  I also used about  4 green chillies instead of the recommended one but we like our curry hot and it was just right, didnt take over the dish.  I also made chappatis which were really nice and steamed rice.

I made mushroom soup for lunch only using half the recipe, was a little nervous using reduced quantity but alas all turned out very tasty!  I too am having Chilli Concarni for dinner, seems a great popular choice today.

Hi! I am kinda new to the forum and all forums in general so my question may be a bit dumb but where do you find the recipes mentioned in some of the comments (like the pumpkin and chicken lasagna in the what am I cooking tonight forum). I would like to try out a couple of things I have seen so if someone could help that would be great. Also what is the "other forum" I have seen mentioned?

Hi,  Just had the Warm Chicken & Pumpkin Salad at a demo and loved it where is the recipe as I want to try it before my demo in 2 weeks

Thanks Carol

I am new to this today so not sure how this all works

Hi,

I'd also love to try the warm chicken and pumpkin salad?  Can anyone help with the recipe, as it sounds fantastic??  It wasn't one of the meals that was cooked at my demo.

Thanks Hannah

Tonight for dinner I'm making the split pea and ham soup from the EDC cookbook for the first time.  I haven't been able to find split peas ANYWHERE, and so I'm making mine with green lentils.  Hopefully it turns out okay!  We're having some lovely crusty bread with our soup...and I made the butter myself!!  tmrc_emoticons.lol

Tonight we had Quirky Jo's Rice (sans egg) which was fabulous as usual plus we have mega leftovers for lunchboxes tomorrow (to be honest we could probably feed one of the kids classes at school with the leftovers - perhaps we added too many veges).

Also, earlier in the week my husband made Thai Basil Chicken with Chilli from Tenina's new book.  No fresh chillies in the shop so we used a dried one - it was better than a good take out (probably just as well since where we are living there is no Thai takeout, or Indian or Italian...you get the idea).  Will be making it again (and again), but might triple the chilli for next time. tmrc_emoticons.bigsmile

how do i get this kfc spice mix recipe?

I got creating tonight and made one of my concoctions up, but for once I wrote the recipe down as I went... I am calling it Savoury Mustard Mince. Was absolutely delicious!!!!! And to make it even better super easy & quick!!!

Warm chicken pumpkin salad..... Recipe please!!

Tonight it's beef rendang with broccoli & beans steaming above in the varoma. It is day 3 of Thermo life. Today I made porridge for breaky, singe serve worked ok. Yum Gave me the energy to unpack 3 boxes from our house move in Sept last year. That good! Then chocolate slice, adapting my old recipe, also good. Note to self: the seal MUST be inside the lid. Very messy lesson! Turmeric curry paste everywhere!!! LOve my new best friend...

I've had mt tm for 9 hrs!

Made veggie concentrate on delivery, followed by lemon cake, rice, failed choc mouse ( cream was bad..tossed it ) and pizza dough.  I'm in love,

Hi everyone, I am still waiting for my TM to arrive, I am counting down the days now.  I would love to be ready to go when it arrives..... sooo my question to you all is what ingredients should I ensure I always have on hand for quick meals and desserts.  I am really not much of a cook, but would love to be a great cook. What basic meal should I begin with?  Also one more thing, what cookbooks should I buy.  I bought "In the mix", which I love but I'm thinking I may need something more basic.  Any advice would be welcomed. :

Your TMX will come with a wonderful Recipe Book called the Everyday Cookbook, or EDC as some of us call it. It's pretty much my bible for everything Thermomix. When you have your Delivery Demo, ask your consultant for some ideas on the staples you'll need. It's a bit hard for anyone to tell you what to buy as it depends on what sort of food you want to cook. Read the EDC from cover to cover and check off ingredients for recipes you'd like to make. Hope that helps.

Dinner tonight was Beef Stroganoff from the EDC. Delicious! Served with pasta cooked in basket, corn cobs on top for last few minutes, green beans and broccoli in Varoma while cooking pasta. So little mess! I was amazed at how tidy my kitchen was when I cooked the entire meal in the TMX! Stroganoff went into the Thermoserver while sides were cooking.

Dinner was very simple morrocan lamb (on the grill pan), with couscous cooked in the TM using the vegetable stock (made in TM). Dessert was far more indulgent - left-over pistachio praline gelato with praline dust (all made in the TM) - sublimly delicious.
