I firgot to mention that the wisk had come off withut my knowledge (as i had only just started to use my thermomix and when my demonstrator made the stock with me i notivced that the machine does make a lot of noise at tines) and when I realised that it was making a strange noise I stopped the machine and noticed that the wisk had come off and the plastic wisk was split at the bottom. Will this be replaced Thank you

Yes, same thing, within seconds of starting mash recipe butterfly whisk starts flying around the bowl. It doesn't seem to click into place, like it's too big for the tm5??

Hi family00,

Your post has been flagged with our customer service team and a thermomix representative will be in contact with you to further assist in regards to correctly attaching your butterfly.

i too had the same problem when I used by butterfly wisk for the firdt time it came loose and was vibrating in the bowl amd now it has a small crack in the wisk

I read somewhere that the person who designed the butterfly did his Ph.D. on it. Thank heavens he's not a medical Ph.D. otherwise who knows what disasters he'd make!

Hi,

my butterfly keeps coming up about 2mins into cooking, it's very frustrating. I think it's faulty and needs to be fixed by the thermomix company if it is happening to so many machines. I position it before I put the ingredients in to the left of the top blade. Not happy with my new machine

Hi jamesjaws,

Please contact our Customer service team at your convenience on 1800 004 838 and a member of staff will be able to assist you with inserting your butterfly.

I too am having the same problem with the TM5 butterlfy. The mashed potatoe recipie always makes it pop off and it rattles around loose. I've tried twisting to the left and right and lifting to make sure its on, but it always pops up.

Thermomix, is there a fix for this?

Same here all.

Was making the Recipe Book mashed potato and it slowly made its way off and out of the bowl a number of times.  I had to pour the contents in to a bowl and replace the butterfly each time.  Never had a problem with it before last night.  It does get considerable use as we make our own butter in it frequently (as well as lots of the creamy mashed potato!!).

Cheers,

Gav.

Thanks for that.  I did check it several times during the first part of the recipe and it was fine.  It was after I put the chicken in that the problem started. I did lift it slightly several times to check and it seemed okay but still came loose again.

Thanks for your help and advice, I will keep trying, just be more careful.

Hi gloryb,

I know how frustrating this can be.

when your putting your butterfly in make sure you turn it slightly to the right if your cutting or slightly to the left if your on stirring function. Once you've done this lift the butterfly slightly from the top to ensure its in place of it's not in place it will come off when you've tried lifting it.

Make sure you don't go past speed 4 with the butterfly is in.

I hope the above makes sense :)

I am having the same problem, thought it was just me not using it properly.  It worked fine the first time I used it, for a mushroom risotto.  But when I used it for a chicken risotto it came loose and I could not put it back on.  I thought there was only one way to put it on.

Thank you

Hi all

i've had my TM5 for 1 week now, all three times I've used my butterfly it's come out after a couple of minutes.

ive followed the instructions my consultant has given & also watched a YouTube video on how to place correctly, no luck, I'm starting to think may have a faulty butterfly

Hi Chopsuey

Contact your consultant and she can get you a new one if it has never worked. You want to be able to use all of the parts Smile

Hope that helps, Fiona

Hi all, my butterfly has never stayed in. We went it a Varoma cooking demo tonight and the demonstrator just popped hers in and away she went. I came home and tried mine and once again it pops out. Gggrrr! My one and only complaint about Thermie! But it does disappoint when we cannot make use of it!

Ciao, Chopsuey!

Mine doesnt stay on either, and i have been making risotto with out it.

Frustrated cook ready to bounce into the TM world with gusto!

Thank you TM AU. Smile

Hi MontoMum,

As mentioned earlier, the butterfly should just fit into place on top of the blades and shouldn’t require any further ‘positioning’.

Non cutting side?  Is there a special way to put the butterfly in?  I thought it went on either way.  Didn't notice that in instruction book.

My butterfly came off once when I was making risotto.  To be honest I forgot to put it in and inserted it after the rice was in.  I think a little bit of food may have been trapped and it caused it to come off.  I've made lots since then with the butterfly and have not have a problem since.  It does seem to look like it's a bit out of balance (ie, the little tip you can see through the hole in the lid seems like it's wobbling a bit.  Not sure if this is normal.

I'm loving my Thermie and this isn't in any way a complaint, I really think it was user error.  Ha ha ha.

Hi Roxygirl720,

Thank you for your post. We will PM you shortly about this.

Actually....mine is exactly the same. I thought it was just me but now I have noticed that it doesn't fit the little knob right. It's as if it has been worn and its now thread bare. Oh god I hope I haven't done something to it!!!!!

Hello,

Sorry to hear you have been having problems with your butterfly attachment. The butterfly should just fit into place on top of the blades and shouldn’t require any further ‘positioning’ really.

If the problem persists, please contact your consultant who can show you how to position the butterfly for future use.

Puzzled my butterfly is coming off while in the middle of cooking ... do I take it out now that all the food is in the bowl or leave it in?

Hi MelanieR

When you use it for the risotto, make sure you insert it before pouring the rice in, I give it a little turn so that it is close to the edge of the blade, then add the rice.

Also I would always recommend that you use it when cooking risotto as it separates the rice better and makes sure it doesn't stick to the bottom.

Hope that helps, Fiona

I was advised to put it to the LEFT of the blades.... as I have not used it any other way than that, I haven't had a problem.

try NOT using butterfly for risottos... it works just as well without Wink

i had it come off once then i realised i didnt put it on the non cutting side and it seemed to stay on better

Hello Melanie, I have never had a problem with my butterfly coming.  It doesn't click - pretty much does just slide on - I was a bit nervous of it at first!  Try to remember to put your butterfly in before any ingredients whenever possible to avoid ingredients under the butterfly stopping it from being attached properly (although I'm not very good at that but mine still has never come off...)

If it keeps happening get your demo person to have a look at it.

Hope that helps and all the best with thermie cooking Smile

Hi all,

Have only had our thermomix for a week and I am not sure about the butterfly attachment.

I used it the other day to whip cream, turned out great with no problems.

Though last night when I used it to make a chicken risotto I found it came off about 2 minutes in.

This meant I had to stick my hand down in the hot gooey risotto and re-attach it  :(

Once again after a few minutes it came off again, so I finished the dish without it.

Just wondering is this a common problem or  aren't I attaching it correctly? It seems to just slide on and off, no click etc.

Any feedback would be really appreciated

Mel
