Recipe's preparation

  1. Wash and core apples, stuff with sultanas and place in the Varoma dish.  Sprinkle generously with extra brown sugar.  Set aside.

  2. Make syrup in TMX bowl by boiling together sugar, butter and water for 2 minutes at 9 desgrees on speed 2.  Set aside.

Add 1 litre of water to the emptied but not rinsed TMX bowl, set Varoma in place and steam apples for 20 minutes at Varoma temperature on speed 2.  Check if the apples are cooked through.  Depending on the size of the apples, and how soft you like them, you will probably need to keep steaming for another 5-10 minutes.

  3. Place into serving dishes and pour syrup over apples.  These go well with cream, icecream or custard too.

  • Someone told me that if you

Someone told me that if you make a cut around the apple before you cook them they don't squish out the top. I might give it a go and see if it works as I imagine steaming the apples would give a softer skin than baking. Thanks for sharing!
