Ingredients

Nana's caramel slice

  • 220 grams Butter, softened
  • 85 grams sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 170 grams flour
  • 40 grams ground almonds
  • 1 pinches salt

Caramel

  • 85 grams Butter
  • 165 grams Soft brown sugar
  • 2 level tbsp golden syrup
  • 125 grams condensed milk
  • 2 level tbsp plain flour

Icing

  • 200 grams dark chocolate
  • 50 grams Butter

Recipe's preparation

  1. Preparation



    1. Preheat & Prepare Tin



    Preheat oven to 190°C. Grease and line a 32 × 22 cm slice tin with baking paper.







    2. Base

    1. Add 220 g butter and 85 g sugar to mixing bowl.

    ⏱ 30 sec | Speed 4 | MC on

    2. Scrape down sides.

    3. Add egg.

    ⏱ 15 sec | Speed 4

    4. Add 170 g flour, 40 g ground almonds, and a pinch of salt.

    ⏱ 20 sec | Speed 4

    5. Spread mixture into prepared tin evenly with a spatula.

    6. Bake for 18 min (190°C). Remove and keep oven on.







    3. Caramel Filling

    1. Place all caramel ingredients (85 g butter, 165 g brown sugar, 2 Tbsp golden syrup, 125 g condensed milk, 2 Tbsp plain flour) in mixing bowl.

    ⏱ 8 min | 90°C | Speed 3

    2. Pour evenly over hot base.

    3. Bake for 10 min more (190°C).

    4. Cool completely in tin before icing.







    4. Icing

    1. Add chocolate and butter to mixing bowl.

    ⏱ Chop 5 sec | Speed 7

    2. Melt:

    ⏱ 3–4 min | 50°C | Speed 2 (or until smooth)

    3. Pour over cooled caramel layer and spread evenly.

    4. Refrigerate 20 min or until set.







    To Serve



    Cut into slices and serve. Store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week.
