Recipe's preparation

    Orange Gin Granita
  1. Add quartered orange (with skin), 1 tray of ice cubes, golden syrup and gin to Thermomix bowl.

  2. Slowly increase to Speed 10, cut back to Speed 4, then increase to Speed 10. Repeat this task until large pieces of ice cannot be heard churning around the Thermomix Bowl.

  3. Add second tray of ice in 3 parts (3rd of tray each time) and blend into mixture by increasing to Speed 10, then decreasing to Speed 4 as before. This change in speed allows the large pieces of ice to settle down against the blades so they can be  blended when the speed is increased.

  4. Final Prepartion of Orange Gin Zinger
  5. Line a glass with Angostura Bitters, by running the upended Bitters bottle around the inside top of the glass. The bitters will run down the glass, lining it.

  6. Half fill the glass with Orange Gin Granita, then top up with Tonic Water - watch the fizz!

  7. Garnish with fresh Mint

N.B.: Sweeteners are optional and depend on individual taste and the sweetness of the orange. Any sweetener could be used, e.g. Golden Syrup, sugar, sugar syrup, honey, maple syrup
