Recipe's preparation

    Pumpkin Scones
  1. Prepare pumpkin and place into Varoma dish.

Place water into the TM jug, set Varoma into position and steam 20 minutes / Varoma temperature / speed 1

Check that pumpkin is cooked and set Varoma aside.

Discard water, rinse and dry TM jug

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees celcius

Mill sugar for 10 seconds / speed 7

Add butter and mix for 8 seconds / speed 7

Add the rest of the ingredients including the pumpkin and bring together 5 seconds / speed 5

Set to closed lid position and knead for 25 seconds / Interval speed

Tip the dough onto your Thermomat, flour your hands and press the dough into a 3cm thick round. The dough should be a firm but moist mixture.

Cut out 12 scones and place them onto a baking paper lined tray, just touching each other and bursh with a little milk.

Bake for 10 - 12 minutes at or until golden brown and bottom sounds hollow when tapped.

These were excellent and foolproof. I only did 9 but they were fine. Too sweet for us but that’s personal preference. Making more tomorrow, thank you! Oh, and used Aldi gluten-free self raising flour. Worked perfectly.

Very simple and easy recipe. Was great but was lacking in 'pumpkin' flavour. I used a butternut pumpkin so I will try another variety next time for more flavour. Texture was good, I would prefer a little bit more on the fluffy side. Will try again tmrc_emoticons.)

Great recipe. Thanks. I made mine dairy free today using almond milk and nuttelex. Worked a treat and managed to impress my 93 year old grandma who was the queen of scones in her day. A big plus that my little ones could eat them too. Thanks for sharing.

    Submitted by Showy on 23. September 2018 - 10:45.

These are good. The first time I made them they came out like all in one stretchy dough (could have if I’d wanted it to). The second time it was sticky and I was unable to roll it out without adding plain flour but I had used a tiny bit more of the pumpkin in the bowl and I had made the sugar go down to 20g. I have never made it with 50g sugar. The first time was with 40g sugar and that was too much.

I used canned pumpkin that I bought from a USA store to make something else & it was nearing use by date. I used 240g as already cooked & pureed. I read other comments so used a little more flour (390g) So easy to make & absolutely delicious, thanks for sharing!

Smile This is a very nice recipe. I use the extra flour as others have suggested. I've made these at least five times now and they have been lovely every time. Nice with butter and cheese. Mr 2 loves them. I freeze them and put them into his lunch box. They freeze well for a short time.

  • The pumpkin I used was a QLD

    Submitted by garthandrea on 17. April 2016 - 16:42.

The pumpkin I used was a QLD blue not sloppy at all, so the 350g was the perfect amount of flour. The scones turned out great. Second batch is just out of the oven with added dates and walnuts yummy! (I used a little less flour to compensate for added ingredients)

  • First time making pumpkin

    Submitted by Meeshstraty on 17. August 2015 - 13:33.

First time making pumpkin scones in my thermi. They turned out great thankyou! After reading the comments and noting that my pumpkin was quite watery I added 400g SR flour rather than the 350g then sprinkled some on thermomat when I turned dough out.

The dough was very sticky but with the flour on the mat and a little extra sprinkled over the top it was easy enough to cut out rounds and place on tray.

Was a hit with my pumpkin hating husband and children!

Almost as good as Grandma's  tmrc_emoticons.;)

    Thanks for the recipe!
