Sausage rolls

Ingredients

24 piece(s)

Filling

  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 onion, Chopped in half
  • 1 carrot, Roughly chopped
  • 1 zucchini, Roughly chopped
  • 1 heaped tablespoon Bbq sauce
  • 1 heaped tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 50 grams breadcrumbs
  • 500 grams Sausage Mince

Pastry

  • 3 sheets Puff pastry, (Or make using edc)
  • 1 dash Milk

Recipe's preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees

    Place garlic, onion and carrot in bowl 4 seconds at speed 7

    add zucchini 3 seconds at speed 5

    add tomato sauce, BBQ sauce, egg, bread crumbs and sausage meat mix 10-15 seconds reverse speed 4 until combined. 

    Place sausage mix down the centre of pastry (1 sheet cut in half to make a total of 6)

    roll the pastry around the filling and cut each piece into 4 (or 2 if you prefer larger sausage rolls)

    paint pastry with milk and cook for 20 mins until pastry is golden.

    Have made these a few times - always a hit with the whole family. Add 1-2T mixed herbs, 1T worcheshire sauce with the BBQ and tomato. Need to add extra breadcrums as mixture quite wet and cook for an extra 10 or so minutes.

    I made these sausage rolls last night for dinner.  When I first made the mix, I was a bit worried because it seemed very soggy.  Not like I have made in the past.  I let the mixture sit while my pastry was defrosting & then created my sausage rolls.  I sprinkled poppy seeds on top & they turned out amazing.  The sausage mince was soooo delicious & light.  It wasn't thick and dense like I have made in the past.  I have two very fussy little boys & even they loved them.... Thank you for sharing this yummy recipe.

    The only thing I changed was I made smaller rolls by using 4 pastry sheets. Other then that this a perfect and EASY! Loved by all and definitely a favourite with the kids!

    I made these to take to a BBQ for Australia Day.... Such a hit with everyone. So delicious. I didn't have zucchini but put in an extra carrot and dried mixed herbs. I also used 400gms gourmet sausage mince and 100gms sausage mince Will definitely be making again for sure!! Thanks for a great recipe

    Made these tonight with a few changes - I used chicken mince, didn't have any carrots so just used onion, garlic and zucchini. I also added a slice of cheese before rolling them and then topped with a sprinkling of bread crumbs after I brushed with milk. I doubled the mix and ended up with 42 small sausage rolls. I will freeze these for work / school lunches - what's left of them! LOLThanks for a great recipe! Everyone loved them tmrc_emoticons.) Oops! I forgot to add my 5 stars!! *****
