    Submitted by finnster on 1. May 2017 - 13:04.

    BEST CHOC SLICE EVER!
I reduce the cooking time to 14 mins so the slice is soft & chewy. Also triple the water in the choc topping until desired consistency & sprinkle with icing sugar or sprinkles instead of coconut.
    My kids absolute favourite!!!! 😊

Made this for Failsafe / RPAH elimination diet exchanging Special K and Weetbix crumbs for the coconut and carob for the cocoa - yummy enough as it was that I didn't bother making the icing.  Thanks for the recipe.

This was beautiful!! Love the flavour & texture. Reduced the sugar in the slice to 140 grams & still could've reduced a little more as was plenty sweet enough. Will need to make double the mixture next time to fit my slice tin lol! Thank you for sharing. Hubby & my 3 year old loved it!

  • I made this over the weekend

    Submitted by salmcc on 14. September 2015 - 14:52.

I made this over the weekend and my slice was neither fudgy or chewy - more like cake.  I doubled the recipe, except for the amount of sugar, and cooked in a 30 x 20 cm tin for 25mins as others have suggested.

    Where did I go wrong?

My husband said 'mmmmm' on the 1st bite so I'll be making this again! I made a couple of changes tmrc_emoticons.) I used 65g of egg whites instead of a whole egg, I halved the sugar in the base (& used 90g of white sugar & 10g of molasses instead of brown sugar) & I substituted oatmeal for the coconut. I made the icing as per the recipe.   The slice looks & tastes great! Thanks.

  • I'll be adding this to my

    Submitted by melanie-jade on 9. September 2015 - 13:13.

I'll be adding this to my repertoire of lunchbox recipes. I've made this 3 times, never with icing as I haven't got around to it! I don't think it necessarily needs icing, just a dust of icing sugar. It's just a little bit gooey in the middle like a brownie. I've also added half coconut half chopped walnuts. Next time I might try pushing some choc chips into the top too. I use the smallest of my slice tins or my small square cake tin. A brilliant recipe! Has anyone tried doubling it in the TM31?

  • Woohooo! A slice easily

Submitted by Tam Andrews on 2. June 2015 - 17:27.

Woohooo! A slice easily converted to gf! Due to the small amount of flours, there is no way to tell that I made it gf. And it is super delicious - one I remember my mum making often when I was younger. I made it in one of my smaller slice tins and I'm glad I did so. Thanks heaps for posting this slice!
