Base

  • 250 g plain flour

  • 180 g raw sugar
  • 110 g milk powder

      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Base
  1. Pre-heat oven to 180°C and line a 25cm x 15cm (approx) slice tin with baking paper.

    Cream 125g butter, 100g sugar and 1 tsp vanilla essence Blend 20 secs, speed 6

    Add 250g plain flour and 1 1/2 tsp baking powder, egg and a pinch of salt combine Blend 20 secs, speed 6, scrape down and repeat Blend20 secs, speed 6.

    Press two thirds of the mixture evenly into your baking paper lined tin.
  2. Caramel Topping

    Make condensed milk
    Add 40g butter
    125g water
    Blend 3 mins 120 degrees at speed 2

    Add 180g Raw Sugar and 110g Milk Powder and a pinch of salt
    Blend30 sec speed 10

    Add 100g Butter, 2 tablespoons Golden Syrup
    Blend2mins/70 degrees/speed 2

    Pour the caramel over the base.

    Sprinkle with remaining base mixture and (optional) chocolate chips.

    Bake 35-40 minutes until golden and leave in the tin for 2 hrs to cool completely before slicing into squares.
