Recipe is created for
TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Tip
This was my Go To cake when my girls were growing up or when surprise guests popped over around morning tea time.
It was a handwritten recipe that I have made for years. I don’t know who the original owner of the recipe is, so unfortunately can’t acknowledge him/her.
I have converted this recipe for the Thermomix and decreased the original sugar content by about 1/3 but if you prefer a sweeter cake, you can use 200gm.
I made this custard cake today (for the first time in years) and as soon as Miss 21 got home, spotted the cake on the cake stand, she cut herself a piece, took one bite and her face lit up and she exclaimed, “Custard cake?!” 😄
