  • OMG!!! THE BEST EVER IN THE HISTORY OF SCONES....

    Submitted by turboang on 1. September 2017 - 13:07.

OMG!!! THE BEST EVER IN THE HISTORY OF SCONES.
I have made scones (or at least tried to) many times over the years. I kid you not, EVERY time you could peg them at a window and it would shatter it (the window, not the "scones") - teeth breaking stuff. So I thought after seeing this recipe last night, I would give them another crack. I have redeemed myself. These are the easiest scones to make, they were so light and super yummmmm. Mr 20, Mr 19 and SUPER FUSSY Mr 19 loved, loved, loved them. Hubby thought they rocked too (excuse the pun lol). Will definatly be making these again and again. I brushed milk on top before popping them in the oven. My only tweak would be to bake for 20 mins next time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Now lets see if I can finally conquer steak too.

    Submitted by AnniePenny79 on 27. May 2016 - 17:16.

I was not impressed with the stickyness of the mixture.  They taste o.k., but it relied on my knowledge of scone making to do things like baste the top with milk to give a golden brown top.  It was a bugger to get out of the thermie, and as a result of the stickyness I ended up over handling them.  I know that this recipe can work because some worked out and others didn't depending on the amount of post thermie handling they got.  A bit annoyed.

    Submitted by schachts on 4. May 2016 - 12:54.

    These are AMAZING!

I have made 3 batches in as many days since discovering this recipe. The cream does seem to make a difference (I can't get really good fresh thickened cream here so use longer life double cream - but even the different brands yield quite different results) - but they are fabulous regardless! I follow the recipe exactly as written (alhough substituting s/r flour with plain flour (+8 teaspoons of baking powder vs 2). Have already recommended this to all my Thermomix friends and am going to add it to my demo recipes as an extra (doing the strawberry & raspberry jam from the British Isles chip while they are baking)!

  • Was pretty skeptical and sure

    Submitted by aimezly on 2. May 2015 - 17:02.

Was pretty skeptical and sure I've failed when I took the dough out and it was pretty sticky after substituting and changing quantities of the ingredients lol, but i took one bite and was in heaven!! This is a killer recipe and I cannot imagine how good it would have been if I had follow the recipe to the letter!

i used wholemeal self raising flour, used demerara sugar instead of icing sugar, 160g of cream instead of 200g as I've run out and then added 160g of water instead of 125g. Added 5 pitted medjool dates too. (I would not recommend my quantities, there was much frustration and cursing with the stickiness of the dough, as well as a cut finger).

    thanks for this recipe!! tmrc_emoticons.)
