Recipe is created for
TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
-
Recipe's preparation
- Place all ingredients into a bowl.
Stir well.
Place 1 litre water into the TMX bowl.
Put the Varoma in place
Place the serving bowl into the Varoma.
Cover with the Varoma lid and set to
Varoma/ sp2/ 20minutes.
Stir at 10 minute mark.
*when removing the clear lid for the Varoma, angle it away from the dish so that you don’t get too much water in the porridge*
Keep steaming for a further 10 minutes or until cooked to your liking.
Serve with all all the usual toppings.
And enjoy the feeling as you put the bowl the bowl in the dishwasher, and simply dry Thermy rather than scrubbing out the porridge.

Tip
Let Thermi do all the work for you..
Go have your shower.. make lunches whatever..
If you want it to be super speedy, put boiling water into Thermi and it should cut about 8 minutes off the cooking time 👍. Test it to see if it’s cooked to your liking.
WARNING: The bowl is very hot when you remove it from the unit.
Based on a recipe found in the Recipe Community and adapted to cook in the Varoma.
Suitable for cooking in the TM 31 and TM 5. Adjust cooking times if necessary.

I've made this twice now and super impressed with the results. I put yoghurt, berries, flax, cinnamon and sometimes banana on as toppings!
My only warning would be the bowl the porridge is made in comes out very hot (as it's been steaming) so just be careful when trying to scoff you delicious breakfast!

Thankyou so much for taking the time to comment/rate.
And yes, how thick/runny you like it is personal preference, but try add in a little less liquid next time, or maybe cook for a little longer.
Also, tip the Varoma lid away from the porridge when you are checking/stirring it.

Delicious! So easy to make. I might add a litle less milk and water next time, but that's personal preference. And love there's no washing the thermy! Thanks, Monica!
