Hotdog Flower Rolls

Ingredients

8 portion(s)

Hotdog Flower Rolls

  • 1 batch of your favourite bread dough, (I use Thermomumma's white bread recipe)
  • 1 pack of 8 hotdogs or frankfurts
  • grated cheese
  • tomato sauce
  • OR toppings of your choice
5

Recipe's preparation

    Creating the hotdog flowers
  1. Prepare your favourite bread dough.  I like to use Thermomumma Lailah Rose’s 900g bread recipe which can be found at this link here //www.recipecommunity.com.au/breads-rolls-recipes/jumbo-white-bread-loaf-thermomumma/282013

  2. Create your hotdog flowers.

(The photos form part of the instructions):

Once your dough has rested, divide into 8 even pieces and roll into an oval shape the length of a hotdog.  Wrap the dough around to fully enclose the hotdog in the dough.

Use a knife to mark 5 slits.  Once marked, carefully cut through the sausage, watching not to cut right through to the bottom.

  3. Hold the two ends and gently twist them around each other to form a continuous ring shape.  Once the two ends are joined together you then twist the other sections over each other so that it forms a flower shape.  Place each flower onto a baking tray and let prove in a warm spot.

  4. Just before popping into the oven, top each roll with tomato sauce and cheese (or any toppings of your choice).

  5.

Bake in a 180 degree oven for 20-25 minutes until golden.

Tip

Using Lailah's 900g bread recipe (link above) produces enough dough to create 8 hotdog flowers.  Other bread recipes may give you different amounts of dough, depending on which recipe you use.

If you create these hotdog flowers using my instructions, I would love it if you could leave me a comment and rating tmrc_emoticons.)

I was reading the comments about the twisting so decided to chop straight through and place side by side. Winner with the whole family (I did put another round in the centre)

What an awesome recipe!! I always use Lailah's bread recipes and these turned out perfectly, lovely light fluffy bread. I used my homemade tomato sauce and sweet chilli sauce (both recipes from this site) and grated low fat cheese. I will definitely be making these time and time again. Thanks so much for sharing.

Very nice for lovers of hot dogs. Bread was lovely and fluffy too. It took me a bit of effort to do the twisty bit but worked out great. Thank you clever person.

  • I made these in the weekend

    Submitted by Trimlatte on 24. April 2015 - 18:33.

I made these in the weekend and they were a huge hit with my family.  After a bit of trial and error I decided that 125 grams of dough per flower was a good size.  Thanks for taking the time to put it on the Recipe Community.
