Recipe's preparation

  1. Add Water to bowl
  2. Add garlic and stock paste (vegetable or chicken)
  3. Prepare chicken. Cut lemon in half and place inside chicken cavity. Place whole chicken in Varoma. Season inside chicken and on top of skin. Add any rub of choice. I use 'blow my coals' from pepper and me. Taco or morrocan seasoning (cookidoo) would also work perfectly. This is optional.
  4. Place varoma on mixing bowl lid.
  5. Cook 60mins, Varoma Temp, Speed 2.
  6. Increase cooking time by 5-10mins depending on size of chicken. I do find 60mins is perfect for a medium size.

Tip

Use chicken broth in soups or drink as is. Take it a step further and once you have removed meat from chicken. Break apart the bones and add them to the broth. Add a further 500g water and return to cook for 90mins, 100oC, speed 2.

For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
