    TM 5
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Recipe's preparation

    Strawberry Jam
  1. Hull strawberries and chop roughly. Add to bowl

Core apple and chop roughly (leave skin on). Add to bowl

Add lemon juice and sugar to bowl

Place simmering basket on lid to reduce splatter

Cook 35 minutes, Varoma temp, speed 1.5

    Note:

check how well jam is set by placing 1 tsp of jam on a plate and putting it in the freezer for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, if you run your finger through the jam, it should stay separate. If too runny, cook at varoma for 5 minutes - repeat until correct consistency is reached.

I've also created a variant for a mixed berry jam if you're looking for more flavour!

Tip

If you add the sugar last, you shouldn't get problems with the jam catching on the bottom of the bowl

Granny Smith or Pink Lady apples work well.  Others may also work, but I haven't tried them.  If you try another variety, be sure to let everyone know how it worked in the comments!

This quantity makes just under 1 standard jam jar (mine 3/4 filled a Cottee's 500g jam jar)

This recipe is an amalgamation of a number of recipes, however the method comes from Tenina's recipe (//tenina.com/recipes/strawberry-vanilla-jam).  Thanks Tenina!

Made this on Thursday arvo after buying strawberries from strawberry farm on the way home. Gave a sample to a jam maker just to see if I had passed the test. A big thumbs up from her. So made 1 1/2 times batch today and worked out superb. I'll sure to be making this again. Thanks for the recipe. Used recipe as is and no problems with burning at all. I only have TM 31, and all good.

    Submitted by elau on 29. December 2016 - 22:47.

Delicious! Made with 650g strawberries, 2 1/2 small apples and threw in a nectarine and couple bits of pineapple that needed using up. Ran out of caster sugar, so just used normal with no problems, kept the sugar at 170g and is perfect! Used the juice of 2 lemons. Filled 2 300ml jam jars perfectly, with enough to sample on a couple bits of toast for my husband and I after.

    Submitted by Henrietta2 on 30. January 2016 - 17:37.

Love the jam but 2 out of 3 batches stuck on bottom (my consultant advised to soak Thermy in bicarbonate of soda overnight. Had to scratch gently to remove the blackened strawberry.  I tried reversing but don't think that made any difference.

Great recipe! Really thick and looked just like the picture!! I'd forgotten about a tub of strawberries hiding in the fridge, so it was an impromptu moment. I'd definitely do this again, but I might try lowering sugar a little as I did find it quite sweet. Thanks for sharing.

  • I've just made a double batch

    Submitted by JulieB64 on 24. October 2015 - 16:33.

I've just made a double batch of this recipe, but it was splattering all over my walls and thermomix (bowl was too full I think!), so I turned the temp down to 115 and needed to cook it for an extra 10 minutes. I also added a good teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper. This is something I have done before and it tastes delicious. The black pepper really enhances the flavour, gives the jam a little kick. It's really good with cheeese and crackers or on a bagel/toast with cream cheese. I got the recipe for Strawberry and Black Pepper Jam from Best Recipes.com prior to owning my Thermie. Thanks for the recipe!
