Daphne's Tomato & Thyme Rice (Mother knows best)

Daphne's Tomato & Thyme Rice

  • 900 grams Tomatoe's, 5 large or 8 small
  • 100 gram brown onion, 1 Large or 2 Medium
  • 20 grams dried thyme, Approx
  • 320 grams white long grain rice

      Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Recipe's preparation

  1. Quarter Tomatoe's and set aside

  2. Peel and cut onion in half and place in bowl for 3 seconds on speed 5. 

  3. Scrape down the sides of bowl and add 40g of Butter then saute for 3 minutes, Varoma, speed 1.

  4. Add Rice and saute for 1 minute , varoma, Counter-clockwise operation, speed 1.5. once finished scrape sides and stir removing any rice that may be stuck to bottom of bowl.

  5. Add 20g Butter, 20g Thyme, Tomatoe's, Water and salt & pepper to taste.  Cook for 13 minutes, 100 degree's, Counter-clockwise operation, speed 1.5.

    Place the basket on the top.

  6. Once cooked pour out and place into thermoserver until you are ready to eat.
