For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place garlic in bowl & chop 3 seconds, speed 9.
  2. Add naan dough ingredients. Knead 6 minutes dough mode.Dough mode
  3. Transfer dough to a thermomat or oiled bowl & cover. Let this sit & rest for 15 minutes. If you want to make this earlier in the day, you can leave it for longer.
  4. On a well floured bench/Thermomat, turn dough out, divide into 8 portions & roll into balls. Cover with a tea towel to stop the dough from drying out while you assemble them.
  5. On a well floured bench/Thermomat take one dough ball & flatten to the size of your hand. Place fillings in the centre & bring the edges up & pinch together so the fillings are enclosed tighly.
  6. Turn your dough over so the seam is facing downwards, now roll out nice & thin. Be sure to use extra flour if they're sticking.
  7. Cook in a pan, on a medium heat. Once done, lather both sides with ghee/butter.
  8. Continue the process until all naan breads have been cooked.

Tip

I have a video here if you'd like to see how I assemble & cook them - https://fb.watch/aeqgbxJlLh/

If you'd like a plain naan, you can simply omit the garlic, cheese & spinach.

If you're like me, & you like prepping in advance - you can make the dough (up to step 3), then set it aside for a few hours.

If you're having problems with the dough sticking, you need to sprinkle your work surface (or hands) with more flour! tmrc_emoticons.)

Thank you for the easy to follow recipe. We all love this naan. I make some without spinach for the kids. I'd like to know if these can be prerolled & cooked later and/or cooked & easily reheated.

Love these! Just made them for the first time but as a novice to naan I rolled then all out and put them on a plate before cooking them. Cooked the first two but the rest stuck together! Luckily, I managed to save them by just grabbing chunks and rolling them out again. It just meant the cheese and spinach weren't inside. Still super yummy!

I cooked these last night as I needed a dairy free naan recipe. Quick, well explained especially the photos and video, and tasty! The consistency was sticky, as warned, and I had to re-do a couple after I figured it I was doing them too thin. Will make again.
