Wonderful recipe. First time using this recipe and I did not read the steps before putting all the ingredients in all together, so I missed the step of just butter and orange. I just added a few seconds to the mixing and the orange looked like it was well chopped.

I increased the time of chopping the orange and butter, for I wanted smaller pieces of peel.

Done in a flash, looking forward to tasting it. I took note of others comments and
Halved the sugar. Added 150 ml of kefir, but I think orange juice would work well.
Plus 2teaspoons of poppy seeds! And into muffin tray. Thanks! 🍰

A lovely recipe! I've made it twice now and the only thing I'd say is that it could do with a bit more orange ooomph, next time I might try adding another whole orange. Thank you for sharing with us

I made the cake with 2cups of Jawar flour, 4 tspns of baking powder and 15g crushed flaxseed, instead of the 300g SRFlour.
I also substituted 80g rice malt syrup and 120g dextrose for the 200g sugar.
My cake was very crumbly. I may have overcooked a little too which wouldn't have helped. Still tastes good.

Thank you for the recipe. Love how it can be adapted to suit others' taste buds. Without the milk the cake is more dense, perfect to warm up and have with a dollop of yoghurt or cream. With milk they make light and fluffy muffins

I make this into muffins with a splash of milk, cooked for 20 mins at 180. Have done it with two mandarins, a mandarin and a banana or with the whole orange as suggested. I think it would probably work with a whole apple too. Half sugar as suggested by others.
Love this recipe and make it almost every week.

I made this tonight using a cream cheese frosting which got the thumbs up from everybody. The cake was nice however a little bitter. My advice would be to remove all the pith as much as possible and this may make it sweeter. I added poppy seeds also and will continue to do this and went along with the other comments and baked for only 50 mins plus halved the sugar.

just whipped this little beauty up for morning tea tomorrow! Always a favourite in our staff room 🤗
I halve the sugar, and bake for 50 mins at 170 degrees. I've also previously used two mandarins instead of an orange and it was delish 😛 and is awesome as patty cakes.

Like others I switched the recipe up a bit. 50 min cooking time, 2 small oranges whizzed for a little longer with butter reduced amount of butter to 160 g, added a tspn of vanilla, added pinch of salt, 1/2 tspn of bicarb soda, 50/60 ml of milk, in addition to the 300 grams of self raising added 60 grams of almond meal, cut sugar down to 110 grams sweet enough to eat as is but even better with cream cheese icing!! Absolutely devine!!

I added a 1/2 tsp of Bicarb soda and a dash of milk and this recipe turns out perfectly and oh so light every time. Can't keep it on the dish for long. Sometimes slice orange on bottom of cake tin and sprinkle sugar then pour in cake mix on top (using only 1/2 sugar for cake). Gosh it looks sooooo good and tastes as good as it looks. Thank you for this quick easy and very yummy recipe.
