My family didn't like it. Halved the sugar as suggested. Not sweet enough. Used organic farm grown oranges. The cake was too bitter. Had to add 1/3 rd cup of milk as batter was too stiff.

Made it a few times now. Find using a whole orange and just the flesh of a second orange works best. No need to add the milk this way! Must allow the cake to cool completely before attempting to remove, otherwise most likely will fall apart.

This was such an easy cake to make. I did make some adjustments. I added 100g almond meal and only 200g self raising flour plus 1 teaspoon of baking powder. I also used 3/4 qty of sugar. My next attempt will be to use my endless supply of limes.

Winner! Winner! I have made this a number of times and always beautiful. I decided to change it up one day when I did not have any oranges. I added two apples (cored only) and decreased the sugar to about 100g, still need to add a little milk - delicious! I've also tried it with LEMON - I only used about 1/2 of the rind, 100g sugar and a little milk again - also a winner! I love that I can just sprinkle with a little icing sugar to serve and I'm done!
Thanks for sharing this fabulous, versatile recipe.

Very tasty fluffy with a nice balance of orange flavor. I used an organic orange and added to the batter some TM/homemade vanilla sugar. The cake is moist and stays fresh when covered with a chocolate glaze. We served the cake with some whipped cream where a tsp of Cointreau gave the entire desert a festive look and feeling. Thank you for sharing this amazing recipe.

    Submitted by kmcgibbon on 9. March 2017 - 20:09.

Delicious! I 'top & tail'ed the orange but left the rest of the skin on. It wasn't a particularly big orange (& I had read the comments about it being dry & crumbly) so I added the flesh of a lime also (would have used 1/2 a lemon but didn't have one). I reduced the sugar to 150g and added a splash of milk as the mix still seemed a bit dry. Baked as 12 cupcakes - very light & moist. Perfect!

I added walnuts and ran a bit short of SR flour so made it up with about 50g brown flaxseed and a tsp of baking powder.
Really tasty but pretty dry/ crumbly, def need some icing ;)

As per other comments - perhaps due to individual ovens.

Great though super easy, just needs some tweaking :)
