Slice base

  • 125 grams Butter
  • 100 grams brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 170 grams self-raising flour
  • 100 grams Chopped walnuts
  • 150 grams pitted dates

  • 180 grams brown sugar
  • 20 grams Butter
  • 40 grams Milk

Recipe's preparation

    Slice base
  1. Cream Butter & Brown Sugar on Sp.4 for 20 secs
  2. Add Egg and mix Sp.4 for 10-15 secs
  3. Add SR Flour and mix Sp.4 for 10-15 secs
  4. Add Walnuts and Dates and mix on Sp.4 for 10-15 secs
    (Or Sp.6 for smaller pieces of dates and walnuts)
  5. Spread into 20cm square pan and
    bake for 20 minutes in 180 deg oven until golden brown
  6. Allow to cool before icing
  7. Icing
  8. Place all icing ingredients into bowl and cook for 7 mins at 100 degrees on Sp. 3
  9. Allow to cool and thicken before spreading on slice

Tip

Icing will appear quite runny at first but will thicken once cooled.
