Recipe's preparation

    Dough
  1. Pulverise sugar for 3 Seconds, speed 9.

Add milk (if not already at 37 degrees, warm it to bring it up to temperature), yeast, salt, butter, flour and egg. Mix for 10 seconds on speed 6-7 until combined.

Set the dial to closed lid position and then knead for 3 minutes on interval speed Dough mode

Set dough aside to prove for at 30-60 minutes

  2. Assembly
  3. Once proved, cut the dough into four equal sections

Roll each ball of dough with a rolling pin until the size of a dinner plate

Place dinner plate over the top of dough and carefully cut around into a disc.

When all four discs are cut out, take the first one, place on a baking tray lined with baking paper, and spread the dough with chocolate spread. Place second disc and place on top of the first one, and again spread with chocolate spread. Repeat for the third disc. Place the fourth disc on top and DO NOT top with spread.

Place a glass in the middle of the dough stack and cut through all layers of the dough from the edge of the glass to the outside of the dough. Do this all around the glass, firstly cutting the dough into quarters (Do not cut through where the glass is sitting), and then cut each quarter into four more sections.

Take two adjacent peices of dough, and twist outwards, twice each. continue around the pastry until all sections are twisted. Proceed to pinch ends together to give the star it's "Points"

Brush with eggwhite and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown

Tip

This is a great recipe to cook with the kids, especially over the holidays.
