Tip
If the custard is ready & thick enough by 7-8 minutes, use straight away.
Don't wait for the custard to be cold before adding the cinnamon. It must be done as soon as the custard is put into the biscuit base.
This recipe will make a large amount of filling - be prepared with an extra biscuit base.
Don't place in the fridge while it's still steaming, wait for it to cool down.

I have made this twice now with a Lotus Biscoff base. The flavour combo is amazing!! (I had to tweak the biscoff base to get the right texture, the biscuit is already quite buttery so doesn't need as much butter)...

allykat111:Hi, yes I do, especially for parties and functions. If I do them as single portions I do buy the mini sweet flan cases that are in the frozen section and I then bake them. I sometimes can’t find the frozen mini bases but Coles generally has precooked bases in the bakery section. I have also found something similar in Woolworths.

Was this made with a 15ml or 20ml tablespoon measurement? Standard Australian is 20ml but many measuring sets contain a 15ml tablespoon. That could account for the differences people are reporting.
Has anyone made this into single serve portions?...
Has anyone made this into single serve portions? Can you store buy bases or would you make them in a muffin tray?

Delicious and super easy, a hit with the whole family. My custard mixture thickened just before 7 mins (the noise of the thermo changes upon thickening). I poured and it started to set straight away. Thanks for an amazing recipe ❤

My tart was a complete fail. The custard did not thicken at all, and it didn’t set even 24 hours after. I followed the recipe 100% and even tried adding extra custard powder and cornflour. Is one egg really enough for all that milk? Any suggestions?

This is wayyyyy to easy to make! It was delicious. I used a packet of Arnott's Butternut Snap Biscuits and added a little bit extra cornflour and custard powder. Next time I will add 1.5 packet of biscuits and continue with the extra conflour and custard powder. Big hit. Thank you.

Have just made this and it's so quick n easy. The hardest part is waiting for it to cool down & set. I'm like that Cookie Monster/Siri ad on tv.... How long, how long?? Haha. Smells divine. I'll report back once myself and the troops have tried it. EDIT: Well hours later & it's set. Absolutely beautiful flavour ... Better than bakery custard tart in my opinion. I used double custard powder & double cornflour as per a previous review. Thanks for posting xx

Personally, I think that two tabelspoons of each is perfect. Make sure they are heaped - but more then that will give it more of a gel texture which you don't want.

About to make this and wondering if the corn flour and custard powder have been adjusted now from the initial post.. I see it is two tablespoons each and people have mentioned it can come out a bit runny. Is two tablespoons the better quantity, or should I be looking to add another?

Hi Janine
In the comments you mention lamb curry and vetkoek?
I'm looking for a lamb curry recipe to use for bunny chow. Any luck in posting your lamb curry recipe yet and do you think it will work for bunny chow?
Thank you for your feedback
Thank you for your feedback Ann - I'm not sure why that would have happened, however, you could always add an extra tablespoon of either the cornflour or the custard powder - but then you need to make sure that you cook it for at least a further 3 minutes
I tried this yesterday and
I tried this yesterday and couldn't believe how easy it was.(And YUMMY!) I made it for afternoon tea and everyone loved it. Only problem was that it hadn't "set" and we had to eat it like a desert instead of a slice of tart. Any suggestions? Cheers Ann
